Hybrid automobiles are supposed to be for economy minded individuals who want to help the environment. Well, take a look at this machine that was first shown at a recent Dubai auto show. It's a veritable 800 hp supercar that draws its traction from two sources: a Ford 3.5 liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that drives the rear wheels and a 250 hp electric motor (see video) that sends its power to the front. Yes, it is a hybrid supercar! Its maker claims it will do 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and will have a top speed of 200 mph.

This magnet drive represents the best way to make variable speed AC motors more efficient. It cuts both weight and frame size in half by replacing the conventional aluminum alloy squirrel cage with 'W Magnet' technology. Here's a linear motor designed to almost eliminate the backlash, friction, and wear problems of conventional ball screw and rack and pinion mechanical transmission systems. The double rail bearing system is integrated into the design, as well as a precision noncontact linear position feedback sensor with adjustable resolution.
