AC Brushless Servomotors

The H-series servomotors also completely eliminate brush wear maintenance problems, and feature extremely durable construction which includes heavy duty bearings. Rugged MS connectors provide reliable interconnections to both motor and optical encoder.

Features

  • Continuous stall torques from 3 to 665 in-lb (0.32 to 75 N-m)
  • High peak torques from 8 to 1,000 in-lb (0.96 to 113 N-m)
  • Output power from 100 to 11,000 watts (0.13 to 15 HP)
  • High maximum speeds from 3,000 to 5,000 RPM
  • Incremental encoder resolutions up to 131,072 counts per revolution
  • Optional absolute encoders feature multi-rev operation up to 1,048,576 counts/rev.
  • Class B or F insulation providing long winding life under rated operating conditions
  • Minimum torque ripple & cogging for smooth low-speed performance
  • Totally Enclosed Non-Ventilated (TENV) standard IP-67 except shaft opening, optional shaft oil seal is available.
  • Optional fail-safe holding brakes

Motor/Drive Combinations

The performance of these servomotors is a direct function of the factory-matched servomotor/drive combination.

ORMEC's ServoWire® drives provide software controlled all- digital performance for consistent operation that totally eliminates analog potentiometer adjustments. High bandwidth operation and a quality high resolution encoder provide the response & accuracy for demanding applications. Peak torques up to three times the rated torque are available for a few seconds, allowing the motor/drive to handle high inertial loads & heavy duty cycle requirements. Each drive's motor parameters are configured in software for high performance and RMS current limiting.

Absolute Encoder Option

Cost-effective absolute encoder support provides axis position over a range of 100,000 revolutions. In continuous uni-directional operation, the position count continually "wraps" through the full range while maintaining absolute position within the cycle. Position is maintained through power cycles by a lithium battery (optional) on the ServoWire® digital drive and a supercapacitor in the servomotor.

Beckhoff AM3000 Pole-wound Servomotors

The new AM3000 Synchronous Servomotor series from Beckhoff Automation expands the company's drive motor range with a compact, high-performance variant. Pole-wound motors feature a significantly higher proportion of "active" copper, which determines the torque, making the performance of the AM3000 series approximately 25-35% higher than earlier models. Additionally, the motors are significantly shorter than conventional models.

The AM3000 Synchronous Servomotors are characterised by extremely low moment of inertia of the rotor, robust design and high overload capacity. The winding is sealed, further increasing mechanical resilience in case of vibrations or other interference. The housings of the AM3000 motor series are made from a single piece of metal, resulting in no negative impact on the stability of the complete motor through material transitions that increase thermal resistance.

The AM3000 Synchronous Servomotors are available with 7 different flange sizes. The motors are offered with torques between 0.18 and 53 Nm and with a wide range of nominal speeds so that for each application and gear ratio, the motor with the optimum dimensions can be selected.

AM3000 Synchronous Servomotor Properties

- Rotable plug connectors for power and feedback that can freely rotate, making machine wiring easier

- Pressed bearings to prevent axial motion of the shaft

- Tight tolerances result in a highly symmetrical structure inside the motor, decreasing cogging to an absolute minimum

- Feedback option (similar to the AM2000 series) provides a resolver and single-turn and multi-turn absolute encoders

- The motors are available with an optional smooth shaft or with groove and feather key

The Beckhoff drive technology product range is optimised for PC-based control technology. Industrial PCs from Beckhoff with TwinCAT software are ideally equipped for single and multiple axis positioning tasks with high dynamic requirements. The complete drive technology solution from Beckhoff consists of: AX2000 and AX2500 series Digital Compact Servo Drives, AM2000 Synchronous Servomotors and AL2000 series Linear Servomotors. New winding technology in the new AM3000 motor series provides a real alternative to the proven AM2000 series. The stator of the AM3000 model is not wound outside the housing but inside through a needle winder.

Linear Sigma Trac Series Servomotors

Yaskawa Electric America, Inc. announces the introduction of the Linear Sigma Trac Series, a new family of fully integrated linear positioning slides. With peak force ranges from 86 to 1200 N and stroke ranges from 100mm to 2 m (other strokes available), the modular Sigma Trac Series slides are ideal for a wide range of precision positioning and general automation applications. The Sigma Trac Series can provide accelerations to 5 G's, and velocities to 5 m/s (application dependent).

Because the Linear Sigma Trac Series was developed as an integral component of Yaskawa's Sigma II Series AC servo system, the digital servo amplifiers utilize an intelligent serial encoder feedback system to automatically recognize which model of linear servomotor is connected upon power-up, and automatically self-configure themselves. This feature enables quick and simple setup of the Linear Sigma Trac Series drives, and increases system reliability.

Yaskawa, with headquarters in Waukegan, Illinois, is a leading manufacturer of high-performance variable speed AC drives, servos, machine controllers, and robots. The company's technological leadership and quality performance record spans its 89-year history. Yaskawa is a recipient of ISO 9000 and holds international quality excellence awards, including the prestigious Deming Application Prize.

Since its introduction, the company has experienced incredible success and sales growth with their servo products. Within its first decade of production, the company achieved the one million sold mark. In the next decade, following the release of their popular Sigma Series of servos, sales reached over 4 million. Just two years later, Yaskawa achieved the 5,000,000 sold milestone.

Servo control systems have become an essential requirement to makers of machinery and equipment directly affecting the performance, capabilities, and value of their machines. Recognized for its efficiency, precision, and accuracy, servos are used extensively in a variety of industries, including packaging, machine tool, printing, food processing, robotics, and textile. In recent years, servo control has found its way into new markets and applications, such as semiconductor processing and assembly machinery.
