Model 20200 Portable Roller Brake Tester

The Model 20200 Portable Roller Brake Tester incorporates state-of-the-art electronics and controls. Brake forces at each wheel are measured with strain-gage type transducers that can be dead-weigh calibrated in-place in a matter of minutes. Additional sensors are available to measure air pressure, pedal force and axle weight. Special retractor reels manage the transducer cables as the vehicle moves along during the test. Wireless (RF) transducers are also available.

Brakes on a five-axle tractor trailer can be checked in only 5 to 10 minutes total! This includes the following measurements at each wheel:

· Rolling Resistance - detects dragging brakes that consume brake linings and fuel.

· Brake Threshold Pressure - determines if all brakes start working at the same pressure level.

· Service Brake Force - checks if brakes are functioning properly. Finds defective brakes, oil-soaked linings, etc.

· Parking Brake Force - finds weak or broken spring brakes, bad valves and other defects .

· ABS/ATC Operation - automatically checks sensors, valves and wiring.

The tester can be placed on a garage floor or parking lot and does not require a special foundation or pit. It is only 6 inches high above the rollers. Just plug in the power cord and the tester is ready to run. When not in use, ramps quickly fold up so that the unit is only 3 feet wide. With optional casters and dolly, one person can easily raise the unit and roll it out of the way. Six large rubber feet are adjustable for uneven surfaces and prevent tester movement.

The most silent safety brake for theatre and stage applications

Characteristics

•Double brake with very compact overall length

•Possibility for limit switch attachment for operational monitoring

•Very easy installation

•No air gap adjustment required

•Constant low noise levels for more than 300,000 switchings

The most silent brake for theatre applications

The ROBA-stop®-silenzio in its standard design is already the most silent theatre brake on the market due to newly developed silent switching dampening. Further noise reduction is possible at an additional cost - please contact us if this is required. We appreciate the requirements in brake noise behaviour and issue an inspection report for the brakes.

Continuously silent operation

Many theatre brakes become progressively louder after some time in operation due to wear and dampening devices. Long-term tests showed that noise emissions of the ROBA-stop®-silenzio still compare to the low levels of a new unit even after 300,000 switchings.

Correct selection due to large type and size variations

Five sizes in different design options fulfil most of the requirements of theatre and stage applications, with a brake torque range of 2 x 16 Nm up to 2 x 200 Nm.

High operational security Available as single or double brakes. In case of double brakes, the two brakes working independently of each other guarantee high operational security. This fulfils the requirements of BGV C 1 (previously VBG 70), DIN 56925 and DIN 5692-11.

Easy assembly

The compact and enclosed design provides easy handling and assembly. The working air gap is pre-set and does not need any further adjustment. Therefore, malfunctions are impossible due to operating and adjusting errors.

Monitoring

On request the ROBA-stop®-silenzio is available with release monitoring switches for an operational check on both brakes for the highest security of equipment and personnel.

Maintenance-free

The ROBA-stop®-silenzio is nearly maintenance-free. Maintenance is only necessary for the inspection of the friction linings. However, the friction linings are extremely wear resistant and achieve a long service life.

SKF Group Adopts VICTREX® PEEK™ Polymer for its Bearing Cages
The SKF Group, a leading global supplier of products, solutions and services in the area comprising rolling bearings, seals, and lubrication systems, was interested in a high performance material solution for its bearing components.

Cages are mechanically stressed by frictional, strain and inertia forces and can also be subjected to the chemical action of certain lubricants, lubricant additives or products of ageing, organic solvents or coolants. The relative importance of these considerations can be affected by other operational parameters such as elevated temperatures, shock loads, and vibrations. Therefore design and materials are of paramount importance for the performance of the cage as well as for the operational reliability of the bearing itself. For these reasons, SKF has developed cage types based on VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer, designed to meet the requirements of the automotive industry.

VICTREX PEEK polymer was chosen for its high performance properties including strength and flexibility, high operating temperature range, high chemical and wear resistance and ease of processing. In addition, VICTREX PEEK polymer does not show signs of ageing after prolonged exposure to temperature and oil additives up to +200 °C. Due to these outstanding features, VICTREX PEEK cages are available for ball and cylindrical roller bearings, like hybrid or high-precision bearings and for some dedicated automotive customer variants.

NRB Taiwan Finds VICOTE Coatings Outperform Traditional Coatings Such as Copper and Silver Plating in Needle Roller Bearings
Needle Roller Bearing Co Ltd (Taiwan) was looking for a high performance material solution to produce its roller bearings required to resist the high wear, abrasion and the extreme conditions of this application. NRB Taiwan found the desired solution in VICOTE® Coatings, based on VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer.

The leading manufacturer of needle roller bearings, NRB Taiwan serves virtually all commercial market sectors where high speed rotational equipment is used, including automotive and industrial segments. Needle roller bearings are targeted specifically for use in motorcycle engines, outboard motors and other high rotational speed engines.

Traditionally, the outer surfaces of bearing cages are plated with copper and silver layers in order to reduce wear as bearings are subjected to rotational speeds of up to 9,000 rpm. During bearing testing, it was found that copper and silver layers wore off after over 100 hours of use and caused damage to the cage, indicating possible premature failure of the bearing.

NRB Taiwan found that roller bearings covered in VICOTE 804 Blk show no signs of wear at the end of the same rigorous bearing tests. Additionally, this exceptional wear performance was achieved with a VICOTE Coating 50% thinner than the traditional copper or silver plating. VICOTE® Coating not only promotes superior roller bearing performance and extended life cycles, but also makes the process of applying coatings to bearing cages simpler, faster and less damaging than copper and silver plating techniques.

Automotive Seat Motor Thrust Washers Now Made From Highly Durable & Wear-Resistant Victrex APTIV™ film
S&T Daewoo was looking for a high performance material solution to withstand wear in automotive seat motor thrust washers. Thrust washers for seat motors are required to withstand motor revolutions of approximately 4,000 RPM and pressures of 10 kg/m2 (2.05 lb. / square foot) and are mostly produced in diameters of 10 mm (0.394 inch) or 8.5 mm (0.335 inch).

As conventional thrust washers are made of steel, not only do they wear out but other surrounding parts wear out as well, resulting in frequent replacements being needed. As a solution, a variety of plastic materials such as PA66 and POM were tested but did not provide the required level of wear resistance. When tested, Victrex APTIV™ film demonstrated outstanding wear resistance, durability and scored well in lubrication tests.

S&T Daewoo has adopted Victrex APTIV film for the thrust washers used inside seat motors in the company's flagship automobiles, as the film's superb durability, wear resistance and inherent lubricity features were optimal for this particular application. Read more about APTIV Films exceptional properties.

Thrust washers are used in the motors that control the car seat reclining angle and position – three million units are produced every year. S&T Daewoo's thrust washers are used in a variety of cars such as the Opel Vectra, Pontiac G6, Cadillac BLS and GM Daewoo Tosca among others.
