    Universal Air Filter Company
UAF Among Leaders in Multi-cooling Air Filters

Small electronic devices require specialized filters designed and produced by UAF

UAF Among Leaders in Multi-cooling Air Filters

SAUGET, IL – Trends in technology continue to demand smaller and faster electronics that require high-performance equipment. Shrinking electronics have allowed Universal Air Filter, a leading designer and producer of commercial air filters, to offer its clients a multi-cooling chamber air filter designed for directional control of cool air from a single fan source to specific locations within the machine needing heat dissipation.

Previously, smaller electronic devices promoted an increased use of multiple circuit packs in a single enclosure, and multiple functions that were incorporated into a single, integrated chassis made thermal management more complex. The advanced multi-cooling chamber approach now allows the product to isolate specific areas for cooling, permitting a one-piece assembly to have several different areas that require cool air and that can be offset two-dimensionally. Also, if multiple vents require filtration, this design's one-frame piece allows for easy installation and the multi-chamber cooling ports permit clean, cool air to be channeled to specific areas.

"The innovation of the multi-cooling chamber air filter provides an alternative solution to using one continuous filter," said Mike Miano, engineering and sales manager at UAF. "If an engineer was to purchase an off-the-shelf filter, the media would be continuous throughout the surface area, making it an obstacle for surface-mount applications. UAF's media inside the multi-chamber filter offers clients an efficient cost-effective innovation that covers sections where clean, cool air is needed and the integral frame permits area for clearance or attachment to the enclosure or chassis."

The multi-cooling chamber air filter, as with every air filter, is available under UAF's complimentary, round-the-clock prototype service to design engineers worldwide via its Web site, www.uaf.com. The prototype service provides design engineers with assistance in meeting critical design, testing and evaluation deadlines for multi-cooling chamber media that is used in power generation, military, medical, computer networking and telecom applications. To receive a prototype, the engineer can submit a request on the Internet or via telephone, fax or e-mail. Once the prototype is submitted, it is produced and shipped within five working days.

Universal Air Filter's multi-cooling chamber media meets the following standards and classifications: UL 94 HF-1; ATCA; UL 900 Class 2; CE Telcordia NEBS GR-78-CORE and GR-63-CORE; micro TCA; ETSI; and are RoHS Compliant.

    Electronic Heatsinks and Cooling Fans

OLC offers the world's smallest crossflow cooling fans with the best performance. Combined with our unique airfoil fin heatsinks, OLC also offers the most efficient forced air cooling modules.

The prominent difference of OLC's crossflow fans from the axial flow fans is that our cross flow fans provide the directional flat airflow parallel to heat sinks or components to be cooled. OLC's unique airfoil fin heat sinks provide the minimum airflow pressure drop. Thus, our forced air cooling modules have an air velocity greater than 600ft/min running through all fins of the heat sink eliminating thermal layer, resulting in the highest cooling efficiency.

Our forced air cooling modules eliminate both thickness of the axial flow fan and space for the air inlet and outlet. Therefore, they achieve very low profile.
