General Information on CellMite Digital Signal Conditioners:

The Model 4336 CellMite Quad AC/DC is a 4-channel intelligent digital signal conditioner that connects directly to two AC LVDT transducers and two DC strain gage force transducers and provides direct digital data input into the serial port of a standard PC. Precision AC sine wave excitation voltages to power the LVDT's and precision DC excitation voltages to power the force strain gage bridges are generated by the unit. Internal signal conditioning with filtering is applied to all channels and the digitized data is sent in serial form to a standard PC.

The Model 4336 also simultaneously generates two +/- 10V analog outputs; one that tracks a user selected LVDT channel and one that tracks a user specified force channel. When used in combination with the CellView Multi-Display GUI software, a complete data acquisition system is formed with synchronized data storage of all channels in an Excel compatible file, and real-time simultaneous viewing of all channels utilizing up to 8 user specified software displays.

The Model 4336 CellMite Quad AC/DC independently compensates each channel's transducer nonlinearities using its integrated 6-point calibration capability not found in standard signal conditioners. The unit has full range tare capability for the LVDT and strain gage force channels, and dual internal precision shunt resistors for the force channels.

The Model 4336 features include nonvolatile memory for parameter and calibration storage, the ability to select between 3 stored LVDT calibrations for the two LVDT channels, and the ability to select between 3 stored force transducers for the two strain gage force channels. Also featured are multi-point and mV/V calibration, remote sense excitation, 24-bit internal resolution with 16-bit analog output, and RS232 serial data output that is compatible with off-the-shelf serial to USB converter cables.

CellView Multi-Display Software Features:

  • Turnkey simultaneous data acquisition system.
  • Supports mix and match usage of LVDT and strain gage channels.
  • Ability to define 8 simultaneous data displays from multiple channels.
  • Save data, calibration, and sensor test information to Excel spreadsheets.

Wireless Automation System 2 Digital/Analog

The Wireless Automation System 2 DA (WAS2DA) is designed for analog data transfer and simple wireless switching up to 2 miles. WAS2DA is the simple solution for applications where faulty wire replacement or new installation of conduit is not possible or practical. Possible applications include:

· Pump Control

· Flow Rate Monitoring

· Conveyor Control

· Tank Level Monitoring

· Light Control

· Alarm Systems

· PLC Activation

· Data Logging

· Wireless Automation

The WAS2DA includes a transmitter with one discrete digital and one analog data (4 – 20 mA) input and a receiver with one SPDT Class C Relay and one 4 – 20 mA output. Simply make a dry contact closure and analog data connections to the transmitter, connect your discrete and analog outputs from the receiver to your controller or device, and the WAS2DA is ready for use.

The WAS2DA stationary transmitter operates one analog channel and one discrete digital channel at 151 mHz. The analog channel has sample rates from 2 seconds up to 10 minutes, and the discrete digital channel will transmit indefinitely (at the sample rate) while the contact is closed. The WAS2DA receiver will output the state of the discrete digital contact from the transmitter through a relay contact and the 4 – 20 mA signal from the transmitter with 10-bit accuracy. As an added security feature, a 12-position DIP switch allows the user to digitally code the transmission to prevent unwanted reception. Features of the WAS2DA include the following:

  • Produced for both analog data transfer and simple switching
  • Analog data can be any 4-20mA signal such as temperature, pressure, moisture, etc.
  • Simple switching can control relays, motors, pumps, alarms, lights, etc.
  • The unique 151 MHz FM radio signal is resistant to noise and not fully restricted by line of sight like higher frequencies
  • It simply replaces wire or conduit when new installation is not possible or practical
  • Performance is backed by a one-year warranty

CP266-CompactPCI/PXI Digital-to-Analog Converter

The CP266 is a single-width, 6U, CompactPCI module with 32 or 64, 16-bit analog output channels. These independent analog channels provide ±10 V full-scale outputs. The channel update rate is 2ms, and each output is accurate to ±1mV. The power-up state of the analog outputs can be set to indepedent user-defi ned values. Paired output signals are provided to eliminate ground offset effects. The analog outputs are available at a single 68-pin SCSI II shielded connector (32-channel option) or a pair of 68-pin SCSI II shielded connectors (64-channel option).

Data values for each channel are written to a 16-bit wide, dual-port memory. This memory is sequentially scanned, and the values are applied to a single 16-bit digital-to-analog converter. The DAC output is then multiplexed to separate high precision sample-and-hold circuits (one for each channel), and the outputs of these circuits pass through active, 2-pole, low-pass Bessel fi lters before being brought to the front panel connector(s). Bessel filters are provided because of their optimum step response. The nominal cutoff frequency of each filter is set at 500Hz. Since the voltage outputs of all circuits are accurate to within 1mV of each other, only one offset and one gain potentiometer are needed to adjust the DAC. Data can be written to or read from the CP266 in either offset binary or two's complement format. During power-on, the module initiates a sequence to restore the memory contents to user-defined values or to the zero default.

The CP266 comes with a Plug and Play driver for confi guring and using the device and application examples to illustrate its basic functionality.

This and other tools, including their source code, are provided.
