Windows and Doors Testing

Stork supports the fenestration industry with a broad range of testing and consultation capabilities and methods. Some of the services we offer include: Air/water infiltration, Air/Water Structural Testing, Expert Witness Testing, Miami-Dade County, AAMA/WDMA Testing, ASTM Cycle/Impact, Acoustical Testing, SGCC and IGCC Testing, Automotive Glass Testing, Chemical Analysis, and related testing.

Today's consumers demand more than ever from their windows and doors. To meet growing safety, quality, and energy efficiency standards, manufacturers rely on independent laboratories like Stork. Stork operates three unique windows and doors testing laboratories in Wausau (Wisconsin), Des Moines (Iowa), and Maplewood/St. Paul (Minnesota) to serve the fenestration industry.

Some of the services we offer include:

Air/Water Infiltration: Air and water infiltration testing is critical for judging the suitability of a window for an area or building. Techniques can be combined with variable wind velocities for a customized testing program.

Air/Water Structural Testing: Structural tests are conducted to evaluate the integrity of a door, wall, or window by simulating high interior and exterior wind pressures.

Expert Witness Testing: Stork experts frequently consult on insurance, law enforcement, and litigation cases.

Miami-Dade County Testing: Stork's fenestration experts include engineers qualified to conduct testing to Miami-Dade County Building Code Compliance Office standards.

AAMA/WDMA Testing: Stork experts can test to AAMA 103.3 and AAMA 1402, as well as some WDMA standards.

ASTM Cycle/Impact: Simulated hurricane testing includes use of impact cannons to fire lumber missiles at a window or door sample, and subsequent simulated wind load cycling. These tests meet the protocol of the Southern Building Code Council (Miami-Dade County) and Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).

Acoustical Testing: Architects and engineers specify different Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Outdoor/Indoor Transmission Class (OITC) ratings for projects, depending on the building environment, i.e., along freeways, near airports or hospitals, etc. Stork operates 2 specially-designed in-house reverberation chambers to assign STC/OITC ratings. Field testing is also available.

SGCC and IGCC Testing: Stork Twin City Testing laboratory in Des Moines is nationally accredited by the Safety Glazing Certification Council (SGCC) Testing, the Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC), and other glass agencies and organizations.

Automotive Glass Testing: Stork Twin City Testing in Des Moines is accredited by the Automotive Manufacturers Equipment Agency (AMECA), the Safety Glazing Certification Council (SGCC), and other agencies.

Related Testing: Hardware cycling, vinyl material evaluations, impact glass breakage, and forced entry resistance are a few of the other testing services offered by Stork.

Some of the products we test include:

  • Laminated glass
  • Tempered transparent glass
  • Tempered patterned glass
  • Wire glass
  • Plastic (indoor and outdoor)
  • Organic coated glass
  • Bent glass
