Siemens Energy & Automation / Machine Vision & Lighting - SIMATIC Hawkeye 40T/45T Hnadheld Reader
Siemens Energy & Automation / Machine Vision & Lighting
SIMATIC Hawkeye 40T/45T Hnadheld Reader

The SIMATIC HawkEye 40T and 45T provide better reading ability than the HawkEye 40 and 45 for direct part marks and low contrast codes because they utilize the advanced Siemens image processing algorithm.

SIMATIC Hawkeye 40T/45T Hnadheld Reader

The SIMATIC HawkEye 40, 40T, 45 and 45T are high-performance, high resolution handheld readers for two dimensional (2D) Data Matrix and one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. Codes with element sizes as small as 0.13 mm and barcodes with a bar width as small as 0.12 mm are also easily read.

Depending on the chosen variant, the devices connect to a host via RS232, USB, PS2 or Bluetooth.
They have an ergonomic pistol grip design with a detachable handle. The reader may be held in the right or left hand. Reading is commanded by a trigger in front of the pistol grip.

SIMATIC HawkEye 40 and 45

The SIMATIC HawkEye 40 and 45 are rugged industrial barcode and data matrix readers designed to read medium to high contrast codes. The integrated display of the HawkEye 45 shows read data, allows for reader configuration and provides display of messages from the application. With the HawkEye 45's integrated keypad it is also possible to enter data into the application (e.g. counting operations).

SIMATIC HawkEye 40T and 45T

The SIMATIC HawkEye 40T and 45T provide better reading ability than the HawkEye 40 and 45 for direct part marks and low contrast codes because they utilize the advanced Siemens image processing algorithm. This algorithm is especially effective for low contrast and/or damaged codes. Therefore the HawkEye 40T and 45T are especially suitable for direct part marks which were created by laser markers, dot peen systems or inkjet. They are also a "United States Department of Defense Unique Identifier (UID) string validator".
String validation includes checking the string contents against controlling documents. Typical uses are incoming inspection of UID codes marked by external vendors. UID to Unique Item Identifier (UII) conversion functionality allows vendors to use the HawkEye 40T or 45T in UID logistics applications.
The HawkEye 40T comes with an additional protective elastomer cover for the housing. This additional protection enhances usability in harsh industrial environments by providing

Serial device servers for industrial automation

The NPort IA5000 is designed to connect any RS-232/422/485 device to an Ethernet network for industrial automation applications. It supports TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP and other operation modes to ensure compatibility with network software. Network access can be established for devices such as PLCs, meters, and operator displays.

Serial device servers for industrial automation

NPort IA device servers provide easy and reliable serial-to-Ethernet connectivity for industrial automation applications. The device servers can connect any serial device to an Ethernet network, and to ensure compatibility with network software, they support a variety of port operation modes, including TCP Server, TCP Client, and UDP. The rock-solid reliability of the NPort IA device servers makes them an ideal choice for establishing network access to RS-232/422/485 serial devices such as PLCs, sensors, meters, motors, drives, barcode readers, and operator displays. All models are housed in a compact, rugged housing that is DIN-rail mountable.

Cascading Ethernet Ports Make Wiring Easy (10/100BaseTX models only)
The NPort IA5150 and IA5250 device servers each have two Ethernet ports that can be used as Ethernet switch ports. One port connects directly to the network or server, and the other port can be connected to another NPort IA device server or another Ethernet device. The dual Ethernet ports help reduce wiring costs by eliminating the need to connect each device to a separate Ethernet switch.

Redundant Power Inputs
The NPort IA5000 device servers have two power inputs that can be connected simultaneously to live DC power sources. If one power source fails, the other source takes over automatically. Redundant power inputs help assure non-stop operation of your device server.

Relay Output Warning and E-mail Alerts
The built-in relay output can be used to alert administrators of problems with the Ethernet links or power inputs, or when there is a change in the DCD or DSR serial signals. The web console indicates which Ethernet link or power input has failed, or which serial signal has changed. An e-mail warning can also be issued when an exception is detected. These functions are valuable tools that enable maintenance engineers to react promptly to emergency situations.

Optical Fiber for Ethernet Communication
The NPort IA5000 series includes 100BaseFX fiber models that support transmission distances up to 2 km for multi-mode models, and up to 40 km for single-mode models. Optical fiber is well-suited for industrial applications because it is immune to electromagnetic noise and interference. For environments that experience high ground loop voltages, fiber provides the best isolation protection, and because there is no danger of sparking, optical fiber is safer than copper wire to use in hazardous environments.

Industrial-grade Certification
To ensure safe and reliable operation in industrial environments, the NPort IA5000 device servers have obtained various industrial certifications, including an IP30 rating for mechanical protection, UL508 safety certification for industrial control equipment, and explosion-safe certifications for hazardous locations. Certifications include UL/cUL Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D, and ATEX Class 1 Zone 2.

Features

  • Versatile socket operation modes, including TCP Server, TCP Client, and UDP
  • Patented ADDC (automatic data direction control) for 2-wire and 4-wire RS-485
  • Cascading Ethernet ports for easy wiring (applies only to RJ45 connectors)
  • Redundant DC power inputs
  • Warning by relay output and e-mail
  • 10/100BaseTX (RJ45) or 100BaseFX (single mode or multimode with SC connector)

Simple, Intelligent Data Matrix Reader, VS130-2

The SIMATIC VS130-2 vision sensor has been developed especially for reading data matrix codes (DMC) ECC200 in an industrial environment. More 2D codes and 1D codes are also available making the vision sensor into a complete code reader:

  • 1D codes (barcodes):
    • code 39
    • code 128
    • interleave 2/5
    • EAN13

  • 2D codes:
    • data matrix code (DMC) according to ECC200
    • QR (alphanumeric characters; without subversions: truncated, macro, micro)
    • PDF417 (without subversions: Macro, micro)

SIMATIC VS130-2 reads codes on different construction elements and surfaces, e.g. (incomplete listing):

  • paper or plastic labels
  • plastic parts
  • circuit boards
  • metallic objects

SIMATIC VS130-2 reads codes of different types of markings, e.g. (incomplete list):

  • printed
  • stamped
  • lasered
  • drilled

No parameter definition for adapting to the various materials and types of marking is required by the user. "Training" is performed automatically by presenting a readable code pattern. Programming and parameterization are not required.

Can be used for the following applications:

  • coded information can be read out
  • comparing coded information with a defined character sequence
  • quality assessment of the marking process (exclusively DMC)

Parameters are set using the web-based operator interface which runs on various platforms (requires IE5.5 or higher, JAVA-VM (MS, SUN))

The web-based operator interface is also used for controlling the device from an HMI device. In this case, the requirements mentioned above also apply with regard to the browser and JAVA-VM.

Other features:

  • Remote maintenance using web-based operator interface
  • Remote-controlled with integrated digital inputs, PROFIBUS or PROFINET I/O
  • Can be supplied as a complete package in several variations for different object sizes
