EnvirOptics ceramic-to-metal hermetic terminal and header assemblies for batteries offer chemical and physical stability far superior to that of glass and commercially available molded polymer terminal feedthrough seals. They are not affected by corrosive electrolytes, potassium hydroxide, and sulfuric acid, inorganic and organic electrolytes. EnvirOptics ceramic terminals and header assemblies are suitable for batteries that have corrosive electrolytes and are intended for use in harsh environments.

• Terminal Strength – Can withstand forces up to 9000 psi without affecting hermeticity
• Mechanical Shock and Vibration – Repeated shocks in excess of 1000g's and swept frequency vibration from 5000 to 2000 cycles at 60g's have produced no evidence of seal deterioration
• Chemical Stability – Ceramic seals operate from +600°C to -270°C and cannot absorb water. They are more chemically inert than glass and are not affected by acids, strong alkali's and organic solvents.
• Insulation Resistance – Ceramic insulators are nonporous, nonhydroscopic and exhibit superior insulation resistance and less loss under high voltage than glass
• Closure Methods – Various final sealing designs are available for resistance welding and high energy beam welding

Operation: current can be carried by either of the two batteries, by two batteries simultaneously or cut off at the source. Can be operated through ON positions with engine(s) running. Engine(s) must be shut down before moving to OFF position. Use with alternators or generators. Installation: surface mount or install through a panel with a 3 5/16" diameter hole. Construction: high impact and high temperature engineered plastic case, knob and insulator. Vaporproof, weatherproof, dustproof and corrosion resistant. Three 3/8" diameter heavy duty copper stud terminals with brass hex nuts. Size: flange diameter 6", overall height 2 5/8".

Pocket Plate (Wet) Ni-Cad Batteries

Ni-Cad cells with pocket type plate electrodes have been successfully used for many decades. Robust & reliable, they can withstand temperature extremes from -4 degrees F to + 131 degrees F. Pocket plates drastically reduce grid shedding & are quick to recharge. Like all flooded NiCads, equalizing routines are not only tolerated but beneficial to the battery longevity. The KP series is available in 1.2v cells (or the KB in dual, 2.4v or triple 3.6v blocks) in long duration (L), general purpose (M) or high rate (H) performance designs. manufactured for a 25 year service design life, the K Series is warranted for 20 years with 3 years at 100% & the balance of 17 pro-rated. K Series are extremely resistant to any effects from low or high frequency vibration. Their translucent case allows for easy water level detection. A "K Series" product is available for any application from utility switchgear, hybrid vehicles to uninterruptible power systems. Terminals are internationally color coded to reduce connection errors. The low rate KPL/KBL are avialble from 8-1580 A/h, the KPM/KBM from 10-1460 A/h & the KPH/KBH from 10-930 A/h.
