Mnemonics, Inc. has developed and fielded IBS receive and processing systems since early 1984. The Miniature Integrated Broadcast System (MIBS) Part number ZS4001C, technology is a small ¼ ATR "FAT" design that is light weight and offers an open systems compliant design. MIBS integrates proven technology that lowers risk, and will be fully sustainable in years to come.
We have incorporated a cost effective spiral development plan for future growth supporting the possible addition of alternate configurations. These configurations can support transmit and receive functions as well as providing the necessary pathway for the cryptographic requirements supporting the Common Integrated Broadcast (CIB).
MIBS
Based upon the Mnemonics certified Zebra cryptographic module, the certified Wedgetail BI Terminal software, a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) processor, and the latest in miniature software defined receiver technology, the Mnemonics IBS receiver provides all the receiver capabilities in small light weight, reconfigurable package. The ¼ ATR chassis is 2.6 x 7.62 x 16.25 inches. The total weight is less than 15 lbs.
Radio Technology
The MIBS radio technology was adapted from the Software Defined Radio Architecture. The system allows for the ability to use programmable RF filters, synthesizers, and modems. The use of standard 6 U VME symmetrical mother board assists in maintaining a common configuration. With the use of a Mnemonics developed Quad-Channel SATCOM receiver mezzanine we are able to package the system in a small cool operating form factor. This common form factor allows the insertion of a full band transmitter mezzanine if desired.

Endevco Corporation's new Model 5860 MicroWIS RF wireless data acquisition network measures and transmits temperature data via a wireless link to a receiver plugged into the RS-232 port of a personal computer (PC). Up to 32 Model 5010 wireless temperature transmitter units can be placed within the coverage zone to collect temperature data at programmable sample rates varying from 1 sample-per-second to 1 sample-per-hour. This system can be used in a broad range of test and monitoring applications, including aerospace, automotive testing, laboratory, process industry, and manufacturing.
Operating in the license-free ISM band, the network provides reliable RF communication up to 100 feet indoor (No LOS) and 200 feet outdoor (LOS). The transmitter units are designed for applications that operate at low power (7 mA in active mode and <2 microA in standby mode). This provides for a battery life up to one year at a 1 sample-per-minute rate.
Each transmitter unit has two input channels for sensing two temperatures: one internal and one external to the unit. The external temperature (-200°C to +200°C) is measured via a two-wire Resistive Temperature Device (RTD). Temperature data in digital format is encoded with the Unit ID and error detection code, packetized and transmitted.
The Model 5860 receiver unit is plugged into a PC through the serial port and collects the data from all transmitter units. This data is plotted and logged on the PC. Standard Windows 95 and Windows 98 user interface software accepts user setup commands and then broadcasts them to the transmitter units. When data from the transmitter unit is received, the application software time stamps the data. The complete MicroWISÔ Microminiature Wireless Instrumentation System is typically installed and configured in less than an hour.
Endevco is the world's leading designer and manufacturer of dynamic instrumentation for vibration, shock and pressure measurements. The company's comprehensive line of piezoelectric, variable capacitance, piezoresistive, ISOTRON®, and servo force balance accelerometers are used to solve measurement problems in a wide variety of industries including aerospace, automotive, defense, medical, industrial and marine.
