IT Asset Recovery Services

Don't just get rid of your company's old computer systems—extract value from them! Let SAMR's (Supreme Asset Management and Recovery) computer asset recovery specialists help your business recover value from your old and outdated systems.

Even when you upgrade your computers, your old equipment can incur security issues, storage costs and associated computer disposal costs. According to a study by IDC, the cost to store old equipment can exceed $200 per system. This is why computer asset management, and recycling computers properly, is so important.

SAMR can offset or reverse the costs associated with retiring older equipment. Your company can collect on the remaining value of your hardware by using asset management services. You can recycle computers without worrying that your company's data is being tossed into a dumpster unprotected. Experience peace of mind knowing that your most critical data is protected and your company is adhering to environmental regulations for equipment recycling.

Asset Management Solutions for Your Business Needs

SAMR provides the following asset recovery services to ensure that data from old computers is protected, valued, and properly recycled.

EOL Data Security Services

Even though 80 percent of companies recognize that data security is vital, more than 30 percent have no data security policy regarding asset disposal. Regulatory requirements, especially in the financial and healthcare industries, call for increased levels of privacy and record retention. New laws such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, HIPAA and the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act require mandatory certified and documented data destruction plans. SAMR (Supreme Asset Management and Recovery) provides computer asset recovery services that not only meet, but exceed these requirements including secure data destruction.

Effective Hard Drive Wiping with Blancco Technology

Do your company's formatting procedures work to eradicate information? Not always. Data can be and has been recovered from the hard drives of computers that have been formatted, degaussed and wiped using non D.O.D. methods.

At SAMR, they trust Blancco disk wiping because this data destruction technology has passed all forensic tests and is certified by the U.S. Department of Defense for offering military-grade data destruction. They find that Blancco's secure data destruction is effective and efficient; producing reports for hard drives that pass the wipe, and alerting them when a hard drive fails to complete a wipe. If a hard drive fails to complete a wipe SAMR will dismantle or shred the hard drive into pieces less than one inch in size, compliant with U.S. Department of Defense standards.

Complete Secure Data Destruction

But SAMR doesn't stop there when it comes to computer asset management. They combine Blancco with physical and logistical security to ensure that all of your drives are wiped or destroyed at their site. They use sealed, GPS-tracked transports and an advanced RFID-based tracking method in their warehouse. This enables their online asset recovery portal to generate progress reports to show you the progress of your material through their system. Your data is secure at every step in SAMR's process; they go the extra mile in data destruction to protect the integrity of your company.

SAMR's asset management specialists will even come to your office to destroy critical information off old systems. It's up to you. SAMR can work within your corporate policy and preferences to provide data destruction.

The Instrument:

The SnapShock® incorporates a single-axis accelerometer, microprocessor controlled data acquisition, user-selectable filtering and signal conditioning, solid-state data memory, and an external start/stop switch. For setup and data recovery the SnapShock® is used in conjunction with a host PC running IST's DynaMax™ Suite Software. The SnapShock® employs a two way infra-red (IR) data communication port for data communication. The SnapShock® is designed for use with IST's IR-Wand PC-to-IR interface module. During operation the SnapShock® can measure and record over 4000 time-tagged peak acceleration levels. The storage medium is non-volatile solid state memory, providing maximum data security even if the battery becomes discharged. Once activated the SnapShock® senses and records the peak acceleration levels that occur within adjacent "time bin" periods. The bin period is selectable from 0.25 second to over 24 hours. At the end of each bin period, the highest acceleration sensed within the bin is compared to the pre-set threshold and is stored if greater or equal. The SnapShock® then starts another bin period and continues until either the memory is full or the test period has ended.

The Sensor:

The SnapShock® is supplied with an internal piezoresistive (PR) accelerometer. Two standard measurement ranges are available: ±10g and ±100g. Other ranges are available on special order. The accelerometer is oriented for measurement in the axis perpendicular to the base of the unit. The recorder design employs digitally controlled offset correction upon initial activation of the unit. This feature "zeroes" the device for its initial measurement orientation with respect to earth gravity. As a result the unit may be mounted in any orientation, usually determined by the measurement objectives. The unit also provides automatic temperature compensation of the accelerometer from -4 to 131 deg. F.

Programmability:

The programmable parameters for the SnapShock® include the Bin Period, the Filter Frequency, the Recording Threshold Level, Maximum Number of Bins to Record, and Memory Mode (fill stop or wrap). These parameters are set using the DynaMax™ Suite software prior to field installation. Date and Time is set automatically during setup.

Data Reporting:

Data from the SnapShock® may be uploaded and displayed using the DynaMax™ Suite software package. This package supports communication to the SnapShock® for initial setup, as well as data recovery, uploading, processing, file archiving, exporting, and hardcopy printout. The report formats available within the software include tabular listing of bin number, date, time, and peak-g level as well as graphical display and histogram calculation and display.

Performance History:

The SnapShock® recorder has been in widespread use for several years. The SnapShock® has been the recorder of choice for most U.S. and Canadian railroads, as well as numerous transportation service providers in the U.S. and abroad. The recorder has also been widely used in various industrial test and measurement projects ranging from production line monitoring to automotive vibration level characterization.
