40-592 Fault Insertion BRIC
The 40-592 is a matrix module based on the BRIC format that is designed for fault insertion applications. It provides high density switching for applications such as an automotive or aerospace test environment.
The 40-592 FIBO (Fault Insertion Break-Out) Matrix Module is a large-scale high density switching matrix based on the Pickering BRIC™ format. The fault insertion BRIC's are designed for applications requiring the simulation of a variety of faults in complex, high pin count, applications involving sensors and control units. Typical faults that can be simulated are open-circuits, short-circuits to ground or battery, or short-circuits between input/output lines. Typical applications are in automotive and aerospace industries which involve safety or mission critical systems that have to behave predictably when cabling or sensor faults occur.
Fault insertion techniques are used in applications where the response of a controller needs to be assessed when one or more sensors are providing poor quality information. The controller needs to be tested to ensure that is does not produce an inappropriate response, such as turning an engine or braking system off, and consequently risking a serious system failure. Testing in aeronautic, aerospace and automotive environments have to be particularly rigorously performed to ensure that expensive failures or loss of life do not occur.
The 40-592 allows such testing to be automated, replacing manual test systems that are hard to repeat and document. The 40-592 is typically used with a sensor emulation connected to breakout 1.2 or 1.3 and connected to the controller under test through 1.1. The connection can be broken and a fault can be placed by connecting the line to a fault condition, such as a short circuit, on the Y axis. The third breakout connection can be used to be connected to a poor sensor emulation, allowing the controller to be tested with more complex sensor faults present.
The 40-592 allows up 8 types of fault to be connected to the Y axis. Versions supplied with three pin breakout connections can support 160 sensor lines while versions that use a two pin breakout connection can support 248 sensors. Modules can be supplied not fully loaded for applications that do not require the full complement of daughter cards.
The 40-592 is constructed with long service life ruthenium reed relays that provide excellent performance switching at both low signal levels and at their rated current of over 1 Amp.

DIN-rail mounted Terminal Blocks (DINnectors)
The AutomationDirect DINnectors line of terminal blocks have reached a price breakthrough level. Now you can buy terminal blocks below distributors' cost!
DINnectors are simply DIN rail-mounted connectors or terminal blocks. They provide a means of connecting and identifying two or more wires within the demands of an industrial environment. DINnectors can terminate solid or stranded wires ranging from 18-3/0 AWG, and offer fusing, grounding or disconnecting capability within the terminal block itself.
Rather than limiting you to a fixed number of terminations, most DINnectors are modular in design, allowing you the freedom to mix as many combinations of types, wire sizes and quantities as can fit on a mounting rail. And, rather than limiting you to proprietary terminal block mounting rails on which only a single manufacturer's terminals can be utilized, DINnectors mount on the universal DIN rail. The DIN rail is the internationally approved, industry standard mounting rail for components made by hundreds of manufacturers worldwide. The AutomationDirect range of DINnectors terminal blocks is internationally approved by various national and international standards organizations such as UL, CSA, VDE, SEV, RINA and IEC. The DINnectors line includes a wide range of connection products to help you wire your control panels:

GAS FIRED BOX FURNACE FRONT LOADING MULTI-BURNER
The XLG furnaces are multi-purpose gas fired box furnaces. They are highly uniform in temperature and feature accurate digital controls and multiple medium or high velocity Eclipse "Thermjet" proportionally controlled burners with an independent combustion blower
More >>
The XLG furnaces are multi-purpose gas fired box furnaces. They are highly uniform in temperature and feature accurate digital controls and multiple medium or high velocity Eclipse "Thermjet" proportionally controlled burners with an independent combustion blower. The XLG furnaces can be rated as high as 2400°F (1315ºC) although typical rating is 2000ºF (1093ºC). Connected gas pressure can be as low as 1 PSI. Firing with gas can be more economical than firing with electricity. In addition, the circulation of the hot gases, especially with multiple medium velocity burners, promotes good temperature uniformity without the use of high temperature fans. The burners can be adjusted to run lean to provide a slightly reducing atmosphere (although this can not be precisely controlled.) These furnaces are excellent for ceramics processing and most metallurgical work where precise atmosphere control is not required. Systems can be designed with excess air for high uniformity at low temperatures. FEATURES ECLIPSE THERMJET VELOCITY BURNERS
The furnace is heated with three or more Thermjet medium or high velocity burners. These typically fire over the load with burner placement balanced to maximize circulation of the combustion products. In some large units they may be configured to fire over and under the load. These are sized for the proper BTU requirements and fuel type of your furnace. In addition the choice of high or medium velocity is an engineering choice dependent on load configuration and furnace size. The burners feature low N OX emissions, integral gas and air orifice plates (for precise gas and air balancing), high velocity for good temperature uniformity in the furnace, and excellent turn down ratio for a wide range of control. The burners are direct ignition which eliminates the need for a bypass pilot. FM GAS TRAIN
The gas system includes two hydraulic-mechanical shut off valves, manual shut off valve, pressure regulator, and pressure gauges. Each burner has gas and air adjustment and shut off valves. A proportionating valve, controlled by the combustion air, maintains stoichiometric air/gas ratio. Systems can be designed to fire with excess air for high uniformity at low temperatures. (IRI rated gas train is optional.) COMBUSTION AIR BLOWER SYSTEM
Combustion air is provided by a centrifugal combustion blower. A pressure gauge and air pressure switch monitor performance. Each burner has separate orifice plates and butterfly valves for precise balancing of air flow. The control of firing rate is done with a motorized butterfly valve which controls the amount of combustion air relative to a 4-20mA signal from the temperature control. ELECTRONIC FLAME SAFETY SYSTEM, SPARK IGNITOR AND PURGE TIMER
Each burner is ignited with a spark plug automatically actuated from the Eclipse Multi-Flame Series 6000 flame safety system. UV (Ultra Violet) sensors monitor each burner. Before ignition the system goes through a timed purge with the combustion air. Safety interlocks include a combustion air pressure switch and gas high/low pressure switch. The Eclipse Multi-Flame 6000 flame monitoring system keeps the operator apprised of the status of the burners. It includes running time along with voltage signal t o each UV sensor. It will alert the operator of any problem with the burners, air flow or gas pressure and will provide "first out" information to actually pinpoint a problem. The operator only needs to press the RESET key to start the burner firing sequence. HIGH TEMPERATURE UNIFORMITY
The furnace is +/-15F (+/-7C) above 1200F (650C) within the working dimensions. High uniformity at lower temperatures can be achieved with excess air. EFFICIENT CERAMIC FIBER INSULATION
The sides, back, door and top surfaces are typically insulated with 2300F ceramic fiber modules, 8" thick, 10 LB density, although this is easily modified for different temperature ranges and applications. No asbestos is used. The bottom is insulated with a combination of castable and firebrick. Loads can be directly placed on this strong bottom. Optional castable piers, and ceramic, silicon carbide, serpentine or flat alloy hearth plates are available. HEAVY DUTY CASE WITH INTEGRAL STAND
The furnace case is constructed of heavy gauge steel with structural stiffeners, lifting rings and leveling bolts. The case is primed with a high temperature (800F) silicone based paint and finished with heat resistant enamel. COUNTERBALANCED PNEUMATIC VERTICAL DOOR
The standard furnace door has a counterbalanced vertical door with a pneumatic opener and hand or foot operated valve. Double pivoted horizontal doors are optional (standard on 6 and 8 foot high models.) DIGITAL PID CONTROL SYSTEM WITH HIGH LIMIT
The standard control is a Honeywell UDC 2300 digital PID 3 mode tuning control. A Honeywell UDC 2300 high limit control is also included. All fuses and controls are located in a NEMA 12 panel. The thermocouple is dual Type K with an Inconel protection tube. A limit switch turns down the burners when the door is opened. Control voltage is 120 volts. The furnace is fully fused. Single point power connection. MEETS NEC, OSHA AND FM CODES
The wiring of the furnace meets the National Electrical Code. The combustion system meets FM standards. IRI standards are available. Furnace meets all OSHA codes in effect at manufacture. Furnace drawings can be submitted to FM or IRI for approval. FACTORY TESTING, START UP AND INSTRUCTIONS
The furnace is completely tested in our factory up to maximum temperature. A very complete instruction manual is included. A factory technician will start up furnace in your factory and make all adjustments on site. ONE YEAR WARRANTY
The furnace is warranted for one year.

New inch-wide Ethernet I/O modules interface
16 discrete I/O and perform counter/timer functions.
Acromag expands its BusWorks® I/O series with new Model 989EN high-density Ethernet discrete I/O modules providing pulse counters with timers, alarms and non-volatile memory
More >>
Acromag has extended their BusWorks® line of high-density Ethernet I/O modules for distributed I/O and SCADA with new Model 989EN isolated discrete I/O that also performs counter/timer functions. These space-saving inch-wide modules provide an isolated Ethernet Modbus TCI/IP interface for any input/output mix of up to 16 discrete signals. Inputs sense the status of dry contacts, switches, power supplies, or DC logic. Industrial-grade units have eight 32-bit pulse counters with timers, alarms, and non-volatile memory for metering, totalizing, and low-frequency periodic measurement functions. Outputs control solid-state switching of lamps, horns, and other devices. Prices start at $195.
Common applications involve monitoring of temperature, pressure, flow, level and discrete sensor switches in process control applications. Outputs are ideal for switching valves, actuators, pumps, and motors as well as for audible or visual alarms. Counter/timer functions are useful for proximity, RFID, or speed measurement and for totaling pulses in utility meter and predictive maintenance cycle applications.
Commercial and industrial-grade models have 16 individually configurable bi-directional I/O channels with a 0-28V DC signal range. When configured as inputs, channels accept 2- or 3-wire sensors and active logic switches for use with dry contacts, proximity, namur, or 5-28V DC logic. Inputs detect a level or change of state. Outputs switch 0.5A/channel or 2A total. A "loopback" feature reads back the output state on an input channel. Industrial models add eight counter/timers that can be configured as 32-bit up/down pulse or event counters with non-volatile memory or as 16-bit periodic timers. Each counter supports momentary or latching alarms. The counters have a 250Hz maximum frequency and the timers have resolution to one millisecond. A programmable debounce setting filters out relay chatter.
These units are very easy to use. No software is required as the units are configured using any web browser to setup embedded configuration menus. An auto-copy function lets users rapidly apply a saved configuration to multiple units. Automatic MDI/MDI-X negotiation simplifies installation.
BusWorks 989EN units are also designed for high-reliability operation. Units feature 1500Vrms isolation with surge protection to increase performance and prevent damage from high-voltage transient signals. The isolation separates power, I/O, and network circuits. To further ensure dependable operation, the I/O circuitry includes over-temperature, over-voltage, and over-current protection. Industrial-grade models operate reliably across a wide ‑40 to 65°C temperature range. Power-up conditions are programmable and watchdog timer output is configurable for failsafe or hold-last-value operation in the event of a network failure. Units perform self-test diagnostics and provide front-panel LEDS for visible verification of operation. CE, UL and ATEX approvals (Zone 2, Class I, Division 2, Group ABCD locations) are pending.
Acromag is an international corporation that has been manufacturing and developing measurement and control products for nearly 50 years.
