Laser Distance Sensors - A Complete Family!

With the Series 13 for the medium distance range up to 550 mm, a new member has been added to the family of laser distance sensors. The OADM 13 laser distance sensor features a compact design (13.4 x 40 x 48.2 mm) and excellent technical specifications, and ideally compliments the existing OADM 12 (measuring distances up to 120 mm) and OADM 20 (measuring distances up to 1,000 mm) sensors. The triangulation principle combined with precision optics and an intelligent software permits resolutions up to 10µ at a measuring rate of 900 ms. Two sensor types for measuring ranges of 300 mm and 500 mm are available. Depending on the specific requirements, either a dot- or line-shaped laser beam can be selected. Using the 2-point teach-in process standardized by Baumer, the measuring range can be easily adapted to the necessary measuring conditions. This allows the resolution to be optimized and the full signal deviation (4...20 mA or 0...10 V) can be applied to the new measuring range. Thanks to its compact design, the sensor can be used to directly monitor the production process even under restricted space conditions.

Distance and Thickness CHRomatic Sensor--CHR 150 E

Non-contact Measurement of Distance and Transparent Layer Thicknesses

The CHR 150 E is ideal for high precision distance measurements, for quality control, inline-monitoring, determination of glass thickness, and for non-contact thickness measurements of transparent materials. The method of measurement is based on the Chromatic Coded Principle.

High precision measurement, 1000 measurements per second, combined with a robust optical head and remote sensor/processor enables the CHR 150 E to be used in either production or laboratory environments.

A wide range of optical probes allows topographic measurements from 10nm - 25mm and chromatic thickness measurements from 30μm - 35mm. Interferometric mode enables measurement of transparent materials from 2μm - 150μm at 333 measurements per second.

Features:

  • Non-contact Measurement of Distances and Layer Thicknesses
  • Scanning rate of 1 kHz at a resolution 10 nm over a measuring range of 300 µm
  • The angle of the measuring head can be adjusted over a wide range for normal and reflective surfaces (90° ± 30°)
  • White-light measurement (measurement results not distorted by speckled images)
  • Confocal measurement principle eliminates fading at the edges
  • Typical applications:
    - Measurement of surfaces (form) and transparent layers
    - Topographical measurements of microstructures
  • Easily integrated into automated measuring systems

Measures Distance to 30-ft (9.1 m) range, IP-68 rated housing, 1.5" NPT thread mounting

This pushbutton "teachable" or PC (computer) configurable sensor is designed for durability and flexibility in tough environments. It operates in high humidity, survives submersion in liquids and is contained in a small, durable stainless steel housing. It measures distances to objects or materials without contact as far as 30 feet (9.1 m). All models have two outputs in several combinations of analog, switch and serial data. Many unique features are "teachable" using the push-button.

Applications

  • LEVEL/HEIGHT - Measure liquid level in open or closed tanks or drums for inventory or process control. Dry materials can also be measured but maximum range is affected by the type of material.

LS series: A Long Distance Digital Laser Sensor

SUNX brand digital laser sensors LS series offer a long distance and high precision detection over a wide range of applications.

Equipped with a high power laser beam shooting a spot diameter of approx.1mm (0.039in), the LS series include 3 types of sensor heads as follows.

LS series: A Long Distance Digital Laser Sensor

LS-H21F Spot Reflective type / Long detection range of 1,000mm(39.970in)

LS-H22F Line Reflective type / Wide detection line of 200mm (7.874in)

LS-H91F Coaxial Retro-reflective type / Up to 7,000mm (275.590in) detection

All three models feature compact sensor heads which are approximately the same size as SUNX's general purpose photoelectric sensors, CX-400 series, with a width of 11.2mm(0.441in) the slimmest in the industry. With the industry standard mounting pitch 25.4mm(1.000 in) and assorted mounting brackets compatible with the ones for the general photo sensors, installation of the LS is very easy.

With a built-in spot adjuster on the back of sensor head, the LS enables easy and accurate adjustment even after it has been installed, as a user can visually confirm the focal spot. 2 large 4-digit digital displays of the LS's amplifier show the incident light intensity and threshold value simultaneously and display max.9,999 digits. The amplifier also comes with laser emission indicator. Its 10mm-wide slim body and the interchangeable main & sub unit promise easy maintenance and space saving. The LS can be connected side by side with SUNX's FX-300 fiber sensors between up to 4 sensors without interference.

Setting up and operating the LS series is also very easy, thanks to MODE NAVI, highly praised user interface originally developed for FX-300 series. The large MODE key an the large jog switch offer both multi-functionality and superior operability at the same time. Along with different sensing mode, window comparator mode, Hysteresis mode and 2 independent output mode, the LS feature M.G.S function which eliminates saturation. Thus, the LS series is particularly ideal in the semiconductor, LCD, automotive and pharmaceutical/Food Packaging industries.

The LS series Digital Laser Sensors are currently available from stock, starting at $499 (MSRP).

SUNX is a leading brand of industrial sensor of Matsushita/Panasonic Group. Aromat Corporation, a US subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Works carries entire line of SUNX brand sensors for Americas since 2002.

DS30 High-performance Distance Measurement Sensor

This new sensor enhances the company's position as the leader in distance measurement products. The DS30 combines simple push button setup with incredible detection performance – all in an industry standard housing. The DS30 line is a proximity style sensor with a single PNP or NPN output capable of detecting virtually any target within its 2-meter range.

What makes the DS30 unique is its ability to detect flat black and shiny targets at the same range repeatedly. Many other sensors will see a brighter target as closer to the sensor than a darker target; this is called a black/white shift. High performance sensors like the SICK DME and DT500 series have color-independent detection and measurement as well, but this type of performance has never been offered in a sensor the size and at the price of a DS30.

Applications include pallet bay/bin empty/full detection, loop control for web materials – like paper, plastic, rubber, and metals, and for detecting parcels, packages and objects with shiny surfaces to trigger SICK bar code scanners.
