Visual Fiber Fault Locator
A handheld light source used for fiber identification or fault location. It features a 635 nm low current laser diode, FC or universal receptacle, high output power in singlemode fiber, heavy-duty plastic body and rubber grip.
Visual fault locators are essentially battery-powered visible laser light sources with output adapters. FLA series fault locators employ low-current 635 nm laser diodes to ensure long battery life and greater visibility. Though the output optical power is already higher than average, when used with multimode fibers the user can expect much higher power output.
A heavy-duty plastic body and metal cap make the device shock resistant and long lasting. Water-tight construction (excluding FC receptacle) prevent water damage. The unit comes with a belt clip to allow hands-free operation. Two AA batteries are easy to replace. Recessed push button on/off switch prevents accidental activation and yet offers convenient operation.

Banner Engineering Corp.
Safety Controller SC22-3
A totally configurable safety module allows for monitoring of numerous safety devices such as E-stop buttons, interlocking switches, safety light screens, two-hand controls and rope pull switches.
Banner Engineering Corp. introduces the SC22-3 Safety Controller, an easy to configure safety module that incorporates numerous input devices and manages multiple safety-related functions. The flexible SC22-3 replaces multiple dedicated safety modules to integrate E-stop buttons, interlocking switches, safety light screens, two-hand controls, safety mats, rope pulls and many other devices for a powerful, cost-effective safety solution. The SC22-3 features 22 input terminals, which monitor both contact-based and PNP solid-state input devices, and each input circuit is configurable to monitor an input signal or provide 24V dc sources when needed. Plus, the SC22-3 can be simply configured using Banner's intuitive PC Interface or the module's built-in LCD display and push buttons.
The SC22-3 dramatically reduces the time and complexity of interfacing multiple safety functions and devices by incorporating them into one easily configurable device. The controller's click-and-go system offers simple configuration for safeguarding functions right on a computer, through use of Windows XP or 2000 on a PC using a USB cable, or by using the XM card and programming tool. The SC22-3's built-in front panel LCD screen and bright LED indicators provide status updates for simple monitoring and troubleshooting. In addition, the SC22-3 meets industry standards including the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 per IEC 62061 and IEC 61508, and Category 4 Performance Level (PL e) per ISO 13849-1. Pricing for the SC22-3 starts as low as $650.
"The SC22-3 can easily replace several traditional safety modules by combining multiple safety and non-safety device functions into one cost-effective and time-efficient device," said Mike Carlson, technical manager for Banner's safety products. "The SC22-3 allows you to perform muting, bypassing and additional functions, and provides exceptional diagnostics and the versatility to accommodate a wide range of input devices from Banner or other manufacturers." Carlson adds, "This safety controller ensures maximum safety while minimizing installation and troubleshooting time, automatically detecting faulty devices or wiring configuration errors to help you quickly locate and clear faults in the system."
The SC22-3 is easily programmed using the PC Interface or the controller's Onboard Interface by defining each device and assigning a combination of the three independent safety outputs for each device to control. Users can quickly create and document even complex safety logic configurations, incorporating multiple safety inputs and outputs in minutes. The SC22-3 also provides 14 types of safety and non-safety input device category choices, and several Dual and Single Channel circuit types can be used.
Applications. The SC22-3 Safety Controller is ideal for integrating light curtains, muting functions, ON/OFF switches, and numerous other safety and non-safety input devices. It is suited for a wide variety of uses in guarding entry/exit points, operator load/unload applications, and other applications where operator and machine safety is critical. Examples include the following:
- Interlocking access panels
- Safeguarding personnel in operator load/unload applications
- Machine guarding operations, including palletizers, stacker/de-stackers and manual feed operations
- Entry/exit guarding applications
