OSRAM SYLVANIA
Serpentine Heating Element
Maximizes heat transfer efficiency.
SYLVANIA's serpentine heating coil maximizes the efficiency of heat transfer from the heating element to your process air, steam, or inert gas (such as nitrogen or argon). The serpentine design is used in all of our process heaters. And every element is supported on a ceramic rod. So the elements will not sag or deform, regardless of heater orientation or indexing.

Methode Development Company
Carbon Fiber Heating Elements
From heating food to aerospace applications, seat warmers to medical devices, Methode's flexible heaters are durable & energy efficient. An alternative to traditional flat flex heaters, Flexible Carbon Fiber Heaters provides greater mechanical reliability & offer a much wider range of options than conventional polymer thick film ink or etched copper flexible heaters.
A new alternative to traditional flat flex heaters, the Flexible Carbon Fiber Heater provides greater mechanical reliability and offers the designer a much wider range of options than conventional polymer thick film ink or etched copper flexible heaters. This new technology is expected to find use in a wide range of applications in medical and commercial products, industrial food equipment, automotive or aeronautical de-icing systems, home improvement materials, and other heating systems.
Methode's Flexible Carbon Fiber Heater technology is unique since it uses stranded carbon fiber--not woven-- and it employs Methode's patented Sonicrimp sonic welding technology for electrical termination. This technology configures 7 micron carbon fiber strands into a flat form which is sealed mostly in a 3 mil. Mylar. Compared to traditional flat flex heaters made from polymer thick film ink or etched copper, this new technology is much less susceptible to increased resistance or cracked traces when subjected to repetitive flexes or certain crease bending specifications. Thermoelectric properties include the ability to heat from 100 degrees F to 200 degrees F above ambient, with a current draw of roughly 400mA to 1.5A. Either AC or DC power can be used.

OSRAM SYLVANIA
Supported Element Extends Heater Life
Why take chances on premature heater failure because your heating element doesn't stay where it belongs? It's easily avoided.
In heating air or other process gasses, conditions of high temperature and high flow can cause heating element deformation. This can lead to shorting and early heater failure. The same potential problem exists in cases where the heater is mounted in a position such that the element is not oriented horizontally or where the heater is continually indexed during operation.
All heating elements in SYLVANIA Process Heaters are threaded onto a ceramic support rod. The elements stay where they belong. Problem solved.

Chromalox
Moisture Resistant Tubular Element Seals
Chromalox has developed tubular heater seals that not only meet the recently issued UL 197 standards, but also IEC-IS 60335-2-47 "Commercial Boiling Pans", an international import inspection standard with stringent current leakage limitations.
Chromalox, the world's largest manufacturer of electric industrial heaters, has developed tubular heater seals that not only meet the recently issued UL 197 standards, but also IEC-IS 60335-2-47 "Commercial Boiling Pans", an international import inspection standard with stringent current leakage limitations. In both of these standards, resistance to moisture ingress for cold resistance inspection testing is paramount, as well as the ability to control leakage current during operation.
The V Seal, V Seal Plus, A Seal and RX Seal were developed as low-cost alternatives to a hermetic seal, for long-term storage in high humidity environments. After exposure in a high humidity environment, it is extremely critical that leakage current remains low. This relates directly to the life and reliability of the element prior to energizing into service. Many original equipment manufacturers need to export their end products. The products must meet stringent international import standards for leakage current, which can be affected by moisture absorbed during transport and extended periods of storage. Chromalox has exceeded the design requirements by developing these seals for the export market. Chromalox seals meet international standards such as IEC-IS 60335-2-47, "Commercial Boiling Pans", and ensure customer compliance for acceptance.
In addition, recent changes to the UL 197 "Commercial Electric Cooking Appliances" Standard have made it imperative for OEMs to specify component heating elements that are operating within their Conditions of Acceptability in the element manufacturer's UL file, while in service in the OEM's unit. UL 197 also defers to the Resistance to Moisture Test contained in UL 1030/499. Each of the newly designed Chromalox seals enables OEMs to specify both required features in one heating element. Advantages of Chromalox V Seal, V Seal Plus, A Seal and RX Seals:
(1)Lower cost(2)Prevent moisture ingress (3)Long-term shelf-life (4)Ideal for extended storage purposes in high humidity environments (4)Meet IEC-IS 60335-2-47, "Commercial Boiling Pans" standard (5)Long service life over a wide variety of service temperature applications
Potential Applications:
(i) Overseas transport (ii) High humidity storage environments (iii)Low cumulative effect of leakage current where GFI tripping is unacceptable

St.
Mary's, PA – January 4, 2008 – Spectrum Sensors and Controls introduces
a high power, compact heater design that utilizes proven ceramic PTC
technology to act as the heating element. The PTC thermistors used in
this high power heater are self-regulating elements that can operate at
a nearly constant temperature over a wide range of voltage and
environmental conditions.
Spectrum's PTC heaters offer high
power density in a compact, low-cost design that can accommodate a wide
array of PTC thermistor elements. These heaters have a rated power
output to 1500W, require no thermostat and have a virtually unlimited
life with no moving parts. Positioned between rigid aluminum fins are
one or more PTC heating elements. This helps maximize the heating
surface area while protecting the PTC elements.
The PTC
heaters can be used alone or in conjunction with a number of other
devices to heat a large area. A fan is used to dissipate the heated air
from the PTC to the area that is to be heated. Applications for PTC
high power heaters include space heaters, CCTV cameras, mat/cushion
heaters, telecommunications equipment, vehicle/windshield heaters and
many others.
Spectrum's PTC high power heaters are priced at approx. $ 7.50 @ 1,000pcs with a lead-time of stock to 10 weeks.
