Drying Oven Processes Wide Nonwoven Webs

Glenro's high velocity hot air impingement industrial drying oven is used to dry a waterbased silicone finish on spunbonded polyester nonwoven web. High velocity hot air impingement speeds drying despite the web's wet pick-up. A mechanical subsystem raises the dryer's upper cap allowing complete access to the product web. It includes a complete control package and comes prewired and prepiped.

Drying Oven Processes Wide Nonwoven Webs

This Glenro high velocity hot air impingement industrial drying oven is used to dry a waterbased silicone finish on a spunbonded polyester nonwoven web that is 210 inches wide. The gas-fired process dryer uses high velocity hot air impingement nozzles mounted beneath the product to apply hot air to the web at a right angle. Hot air impingement breaks through the boundary layer of air that surrounds the moving nonwoven web and transfers heat to the product to vaporize liquids in the coating or finish. The turbulence created also helps to exhaust vapor from the process, which speeds further drying, despite the web's wet pick up. Impingement air is exhausted from the drying oven through return tubes, which are evenly spaced across the dryer. High velocity hot air impingement is extremely effective in applications where large quantities of water must be removed from a saturated or coated web. Glenro engineers carefully calculate, model and test air impingement nozzle configurations, as adjustments can result in gains in processing speeds.

The complete drying oven measures 11.75 feet long by 21 feet wide by 11.8 feet high, including the dryer enclosure, blowers, ductwork, and structural steel support frames. The oven enclosure is constructed of aluminized steel with stainless steel trim. Its walls are extensively insulated. Three bolt-on plug doors with handles allow access to the dryer's interior for maintenance, and two pressure gauges display supply plenum air pressure.

The high velocity hot air impingement web drying oven also includes a mechanical subsystem that raises the dryer's upper cap 24 inches above its base, allowing complete access to the product web. Motorized screw jacks raise and lower the upper cap, and are operated from the system's central control panel. Dryer halves are gasketed to form a tight seal in the closed position.

The drying oven includes a complete integrated control package. Built into a NEMA 12 enclosure, the control system includes all necessary electrical and gas controls, as well as operator interface components. A PLC, specifically programmed by Glenro, controls temperature in each of two heat zones. The industrial drying oven is shipped assembled, pre-wired and pre-piped for easy handling and installation.

Drying Oven Processes Film Web at High Speed

A new industrial drying oven developed by Glenro Inc. has been placed in service to dry solvent-based ink on food packaging film webs. Glenro engineers designed the new drying oven to allow thorough, high-speed processing of the web without damaging the film substrate.

High velocity hot air impingement nozzles inside the process dryer direct a perpendicular stream of air at the web's surface. The high velocity air breaks through the boundary layer of air that surrounds the moving web, which facilitates heat transfer to the product. At the same time, the turbulence created also helps vapors to break away from the product surface, aiding vapor exhaust and further evaporation.

Inside the dryer, the web makes several 90° turns over idler rolls, which allows the product to be exposed to a maximum number of high velocity air impingement nozzles in a comparatively small space. The drying oven measures only 40 inches long by 48 inches wide by 48 inches high. A door on the front facilitates easy product access. The system includes an air circulation blower and complete supply and return ductwork. An electric duct heater supplies heat for the oven.

Glenro augments the high velocity air impingement heating with one six-tube quartz infrared heater at the product entrance end of the dryer. The company's laboratory research (and extensive installations in the field) have shown that the strategic addition of infrared heat in a hot air dryer can "kick off" the drying process and allow far faster web processing speeds without sacrifices in product quality.

Power controls and operator interface components for the drying oven are built into a NEMA 12 enclosure, which includes a ventilation blower, wire ways, and number coding of leads.

Rubber Curing Ovens

Infratrol's new Low Profile Rubber Ovens design provides many operational and functional advantages that improve productivity and efficiency for the rubber extrusion industry.

The streamlined design of these curing ovens places the air handling and heating equipment below the work chamber. This has obvious advantages in today's production environments. It permits better visibility throughout the work area for better process control, and the curing ovens can be installed in areas where head room is limited. This provides opportunities for more selective equipment placement.

Infratrol's new Low Profile Curing Ovens provide better access for quick maintenance. All system controls are located within easy reach at floor level. Air operated top opening panels provide convenient access to the oven interior and makes threading new stock and interior maintenance a breeze.

Gas fired or electrically heated Low Profile Curing Ovens can be provided in modular units up to 40' long. Several individually controlled modules can be coupled together for even greater productivity or for increased processing flexibility.

Infratrol's full length duct design delivers heat to the product continuously along the entire length of the curing oven. The extruded material is heated evenly and consistently as it travels through the curing oven - no more cold spots. Hot air is also delivered below the transport belt, heating the entire perimeter of the extrusion evenly.

Infratrol's new Low Profile Rubber Curing Ovens can be provided with a variety of conveyor systems. High speed Teflon coated belts are used for transporting rubber extrusions. Our new Low Profile Curing Oven can be equipped with powered stainless steel or Teflon coated rolls which are easily removable for cleaning or recoating. Speeds can be adjusted to suit your extruder. (More Curing Oven Options)

Cantilevered end pulleys enable easy belt maintenance and replacement. The pulleys are also mounted inside the oven atmosphere so that the transport belt stays warm at all times. Equipment and controls are included for proper belt tracking, speed control, and tensioning during thermal expansion.

An ergonomically designed operator control counsel puts the operator in charge of the process. Logically arranged equipment controls and status lights put the operator in command. We also provide diagnostic lights for quickly determining system faults.

We build Infratrol's new Low Profile Curing Ovens to last. We combine high efficiency motors, rugged tubular steel construction and aluminized steel panels to make sure our ovens will require a minimum of maintenance and run efficiently for years to come.
