The majority of installations have been for hazardous locations. Their expertise has evolved over the years by building products suited for hostile environments. Hydraulically powered valve actuators are the primary application for Shafer HPUs. Shafer offers central hydraulic systems designed to operate any number of valves from a single control center. Hydraulic power is ideal for applications requiring valve modulation, regulation or on/off service. And, with accumulator backup, Shafer hydraulic power units provide the perfect solution for fail-safe and emergency shutdown applications.

HPUs are designed to provide sufficient pressure and volume to stroke valves singly or in unison, depending on customer needs. Satellite accumulators are available for fail-safe applications.

Product Description - Standard Units:

L-Shaped:

L-shaped power units are ideal for demanding high-production industrial applications requiring high fluid volume and flow rate. The readily removable tank cover simplifies cleaning or replacing suction strainers. L-shape power units feature flooded suction inlets that eliminate the need for the pump to lift hydraulic fluid, thus reducing wear-and-tear.

JIC-Style:

NFPA/JIC-style power units are especially well suited for heavier duty, continuous-use industrial applications requiring design flexibility and rugged construction.

Low Profile Series:

Low profile power units are well suited for industrial applications requiring moderate fluid volume and flow rate. They are an excellent solution to applications in which space is at a premium, or where the power of a NFPA/JIC-Style unit is needed in a smaller, less expensive package.

Little Champ Series:

Little Champ power units are designed for use in locations where space is limited and larger, noisier power units are not needed. They're ideal for applications requiring moderate fluid volume and flow rate, short hydraulic lines, and quick cycling.

The Hydraulic Systems Division designs and manufactures hydraulic power supplies (HPS) for aerospace applications. Their HPS product line is ideally suited for applications where a highly integrated and compact hydraulic system is needed.

The HPS is a completely self-contained, compact, gearbox-driven device that fully integrates the hydraulic pump with the filters, reservoir, switches, transducers, and ground support couplings. This compact and robust unit provides the full functionality of a conventional hydraulic system for conformance to unique weight and space constraints.
