AFP Transformers, LLC
Industrial Heating/Furnace Transformers
AFP Transformers, LLC, designs and manufactures transformers and power distribution assemblies for a broad variety of furnace or heating applications.
More >>
These applications vary from simple line frequency voltage step down to match heating element requirements, to high frequency transformers (up to 25 KHz) for induction heating applications, to SCR or saturable reactors assemblies packaged with transformers to control output voltages and/or currents.
All of AFP's industrial heating and furnace transformers are custom designed and manufactured to match our customers' unique requirements. As with most AFP products, these transformers are available with copper or aluminum windings, open frame core and coil designs or with several NEMA enclosure variations.
Typical applications for AFP's Industrial Heating and Furnace Transformers include:
- Step down of line voltage to match heating element requirements;
- Multi-tap output voltages to accommodate for varying power output needs or to compensate for heating element resistance changes;
- SCR controlled primaries to allow for variable output power;
- Saturable reactors incorporated into the transformer design to control output power;
- High frequency voltage conversion for induction heating systems;
- Impedance matching output transformers for induction heating applications;
- Scott-T or other types of 3 to 2 phase power conversion transformers.

Inductotherm Slab Heating Systems
Inductotherm's high power-density induction systems provide mill operators with the most efficient and cost-effective technology for bringing even the largest steel slabs to the optimal temperature for rolling.
More >>
Inductotherm's high power-density induction systems provide mill operators with the most efficient and cost-effective technology for bringing even the largest steel slabs to the optimal temperature for rolling. Induction reheating systems are designed to take over the slab heating process at the point in the thermal curve where gas-fired furnaces start to lose efficiency. Unlike gas, induction heating systems maintain their high efficiency throughout their operating range. In a typical induction slab reheating operation, the slab is brought to 1000ْC in a conventional gas-fired furnace, before moving into the induction system where it is raised to the précis temperature needed for rolling. Because induction heats the metal directly, this operation occurs quickly, increasing slab through-put and reducing scale formation. Generally, induction-based reheating systems require just 10% of the floor space needed for comparable gas-fired furnaces.
- High heating efficiency
- Quick slab throughput
- In-line or oscillating heaters
- Reduced scale formation
- Highly compact installations
- Closed loop temperature control
- Reduced maintenance
- Worldwide service support

Inductoheat's new InductoForge™ modular billet heating system is a revolutionary product for the forging industry. The flexible modular design allows the forge shop to assemble an induction system that exactly matches its application requirements by allowing the addition or subtraction of power modules for future production needs. The InductoForge™ system uses power modules that are capable of running at wide range of frequencies with minimal change: (500Hz to 6000Hz). Each module is individually controlled resulting in a much finer and more accurate control of the billet temperature. High efficiency is achieved through specialized induction coil design and minimal transmission bus. The heavy-duty, single size forging coil consists of cast end boards, copper windings and long-life removable liner for heating a wide range of billet diameters. Inductoheat designed the IHAZ -Temperature Profile Modeling computer program to set up an advanced temperature control for the InductoForge Billet Heater. IHAZ can be used to customize the billet temperature profile (Induction Heat Affected Zone) to best suit the application. IHAZ generates the optimum-running parameters and set points for Standby and Rapid Start, which are stored as a recipe in the billet heater's PLC.
