Champ® Luminaires with Induction Lighting System

Cooper Crouse-Hinds VMV and DMV Champ Luminaires are now available with induction lamps. Induction lamps offer extremely long life (up to 100,000 hours), with an average life-span of 15 years under continuous operation. Induction technology offers lighting designers significantly reduced maintenance costs and low energy consumption, making induction lamps ideal for situations where maintenance is difficult and/or expensive.

VMVIG and DMVIG Champ Induction luminaires from Cooper Crouse-Hinds offers…

• Virtually maintenance-free Philips QL Induction Lamp System. • 100,000 hour life minimizing routine maintenance costs(downtime, equipment rental, manpower, replacement lamps and parts. • Instant start and restart. • Good lumen maintenance (retains light output) - less than 30% depreciation after 60,000 hrs operation. • Provides a temperature rating of T6 (85ºC) when used with the restricted breathing option S826. • Starts in low temperatures - as low as -40° C. • Crisp white light (80+ Color Rendering Index), true color rendering with no color shift over the life of the lamp system. • High Lumen Output & Efficacy. • Nominal Power Factor of 0.96 increases useable watts to an excellent level. • Low Total Harmonic Distortion (<10%) will not add electrical noise to circuits. • Low EMI, Complies with FCC Class A - Non-Consumer Limits.

Champ Induction luminaires are ideal...

• Where an extra long life lamp source (up to 100,000 hrs) is required. • In areas that require lamps to reach full illumination immediately. • Where cool temperature ratings on the luminaire globe are needed. • In hard-to-reach applications. • Where luminaire maintenance is difficult due to continuous process operation requirements that restrict or prohibit shut down except in emergency situations. • To provide a cost-effective lighting system (low installed /life cost) by minimizing or even eliminating routine luminaire maintenance. • In cold environment applications.

Certifications and Compliances:

NEC & CEC: • Class I, Division 2 and Zone 2 • Class I, Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D Class I, Zone 2 Group II (Groups IIC, IIB, IIA) • Restricted Breathing Suffix S826 for Class I Division 2 & Zone 2 • Marine Locations, Wet Locations, Enclosure Type 3, 3R, 4, 4X; IP66

Appleton Induction Lighting Systems

Induction Lighting is a breakthrough technology. At the core of the lamp is an induction coil, connected and powered by an electronic unit at the base of the lamp, which produces a magnetic field. The glass assembly and the material captured within it, surround the induction coil producing UV light.

Appleton Induction Lighting Systems

Take a new induction lighting technology and install it in the two best luminaries on the market for hazardous and corrosive conditions and you have long-lasting protection for all of your lighting needs. Twenty years of virtually maintenance-free operation translates into less shutdowns and fewer man hours spent servicing lamps. Appleton offers induction lighting systems in their Mercmaster™ III and Code●Master 2™ lighting fixtures. Mercmaster™ III fixtures are available in 55w and 85w models. Code●Master 2 ™ are available in 55w and 85w models. Induction Lighting is a breakthrough technology. At the core of the lamp is an induction coil, connected and powered by an electronic unit at the base of the lamp, which produces a magnetic field. The glass assembly and the material captured within it, surround the induction coil producing UV light. The inner portion of the glass is lined with phosphor coating very similar to that in fluorescent lamps. When energized by the UV light, the phosphor coating luminesces, producing light. By comparison, an incandescent lamp lasts an average of 2,000 hours. A metal halide lamp lasts an average of 10,000 hours. An induction system lasts fifty times longer than incandescent and ten times longer than metal halide, has higher color rendering and can start instantly with no warm up period. It becomes clear that an Appleton induction system is the smart choice for lighting that is used in locations where changing lamps is dangerous or operationally inefficient.
