Precision Spindle Assembly for Industrial Encoder

An encoder is a position sensing device. They are used to sense rotary motion and they provide feedback, via an electrical signal, to a processor, controller, or computer. Therefore they are used in automated machinery and test systems in conjuction with friction and measuring wheels, ball screws, timing pullies, rack and pinion actuation, etc.. Product Focus: Industrial Robotics Packaging Machinery Belt and Conveyor Systems CNC Maching Centers Automated Fluid Dispensing Gantry Systems Automated Wire Harness and Soldering Machines Automated Cleaning Machines Pick and Place Robots

Precision Spindles for Industrial Encoders * Stainless steel ABEC 5 and 7 bearings * Stainless steel shafts, housings, and hubs * Both inch and metric sizes available * Bearings bonded in place under pre-load * Precise running geometry, .0002" total runout * Special grease lubrication for low noise and increase life * Class 100 and 10,000 assembly and test environments * Custom packaging

just about anything you can think of that combines motion and automation

Rotary Encoders

Rotary encoders serve as measuring sensors for rotary motion, and for linear motion when used in conjunction with mechanical measuring standards such as leadscrews. Areas of application include:

  • Electrical drives
  • Machine tools
  • Printing presses
  • Woodworking machines
  • Robots and handling devices

HEIDENHAIN rotary encoders convert rotary motion to electrical signals by photoelectrically scanning DIADUR circular graduations. The measuring signals are evaluated either in numerical controls (NC) and programmable logic controllers (PLC), or simply in a digital position display unit. Thanks its a wide range of mechanical and electronics features, the HEIDENHAIN rotary encoder program offers a the suitable rotary encoder for virtually any application - from simple positioning tasks to the highly dynamic control of electrical drives. The rotary encoders of the ERM product family feature magnetic graduations on drums.

Compact absolute rotary taper shaft encoder with integral bearing and mounted stator coupling with 1Vpp and EnDat output and IP 40 protection

HEIDENHAIN's ECN rotary encoders have an integral bearing and a mounted stator coupling. The encoder shaft is connected directly to the measured shaft. During angular acceleration of the shaft the stator coupling must absorb only that torque resulting from friction in the bearing. ECN rotary encoders therefore display high dynamic performance and high natural frequencies.

Incremental signals - 1 VPP
Line count - 512 or 2048
Data interface - EnDat
Absolute position values - 8192 (13 bits)
Power supply - 5V
