Optical Isolator Module

This DIN rail mounted encoder interface lets you connect an encoder to a variety of controllers, or to multiple input devices. It provides an optically isolated signal and is available with one of four output driver options making it compatible with all major counter, drive and PLC components. Multiple modules can be daisy-chained together and drive as many as eight different devices from a single encoder.

The interface module also provides LED output indicators for two quadrature channels and an index. All circuitry for the module is packaged in a housing that mounts to a standard external DIN rail. For ease of installation, a 75 mm length of DIN rail is supplied with each module.

Anti-Dither Module

This module performs a specialized yet critical function for applications that may be subject to position errors due to stop/start cycles or vibration environments that are not using the direction-detection functions provided by a quadrature signal. The Anti- Dither module accepts A and B signals and, through internal discrimination circuitry. passes the signals through only when there has been true movement of the encoder. This acts like 1/4 cycle of hysteresis and avoids encoder signal transition dithering due to mechanical vibration. This is especially useful in web processes, handling and inspection systems that use conveyors and simple speed control in applications that are subject to vibration.

Intrinsic Safety Barrier

This Galvanically Isolated Intrinsic Safety Barrier is the perfect complement to BEI encoders for hazardous environments. It is electrically compatible with all popular counters, PLCs and controllers, and it features isolation for power and three signal channels, as well as LED indicators for power and data - all in a single DIN rail package.

The BEI Barrier carries, CENELEC, UL and cUL ratings and is suitable for long cable runs. Since it also carries a nonincendive designation per the National Electrical Code, it can be mounted in Class 1, Division 2 areas.

Encoder Tester Module

This test module accepts input from any type of incremental optical encoder. It tests for two channels in quadrature, an index pulse, and power to the module. It features a simple and intuitive LED indicator scheme: lights are on to indicate that a signal is HI and off when the signal goes LO. Through combinations of terminal connections and dropping resistors (supplied), it can test open collector outputs, and both single ended and differential outputs at all standard voltages: 5VDC, 12-15 VDC, and 24 VDC. This tester can also be used for machine set-up (by locating the index pulse) and incoming inspection and diagnostics of encoded motors.

Serial-to-Parallel Converter Module

The serial to parallel converter takes serial data from either a SSI or RS-422 source and converts it to a 15 bit parallel output. This replaces the high cost and noise susceptibility of long, parallel cable runs with the simplicity of a low cost twisted pair cable to interface to a parallel-input PLC or controller. Serial input type is selectable along with clock speed (for SSI) or baud (for RS422). This module accepts inputs from 5 to 28 VDC and has output options of Vout-Vin, Vout=5V regulated or Vout = Open Collector.

The 9830-PCD sensor monitors the capacitance field in front of the sensor plate. The sensing plate forms part of the chute or hopper wall to sense the product within. The increased presence of product in front of the sensor due to a plugging condition increases the capacitance field and initiates an alarm.

The sensing plates are embedded into a polyethylene plate which provides monitoring without any intrusion into the product flow.

DFM 4.0 Doppler Flow Meter

Measure flow from outside a pipe. The Greyline DFM 4.0 is ideal for "difficult liquids" that would damage regular flow meters - wastewater, slurries, sludge, chemicals, viscous liquids and abrasives. There is no obstruction to flow and no pressure drop. The standard, strap-on ultrasonic sensor fits any pipe 1/2" (12.5 mm) Inside Diameter or larger. The electronics/display enclosure can be mounted nearby.

Use the isolated 4-20mA to transmit flow to remote displays, recorders or controllers. The 3 programmable relays can be used for flow control, pump protection or flow proportionate pulse. Calibration is easy with the built-in 3-key calibrator. Display and totalize flow in your choice of engineering units (gallons, liters etc.)

Sensor cable can be extended up to 500 ft. (152 m) with no loss of signal. The DFM 4.0 can be equipped with intrinsic safety barriers for sensor installation in hazardous rated locations. Other options include high temperature sensors and a built-in 50,000 point Data Logger.

The DFM 4.0 includes a new digital signal processor to filter background noise and interference and to measure flow rates accurately in liquids containing gas bubbles or solids particles.
