Single Contacts for High-Current Applications

ODU offers a wide range of single contacts based on the Springtac™ and Lamella™ design. More than sixty years ago Otto Dunkel, the founder of ODU, invented the Springwire contact. Since then, the Springwire contact has been the industry standard for critical applications in medical electronics, industrial power systems, military applications, transportation, and many other fields.

Recently ODU introduced the Lamella™ contact as a more cost effective alternative to the Springtac™. The Lamella™ contact is capable of mating and de-mating up to 5000 cycles. As versatile as the Springtac™, the new Lamella™ contact technology delivers a high-reliability connector system at a cost-effective price.

Precipitation Systems

Hydroxide precipitation systems are a time tested method for the removal of settleable solids, including heavy metals, from a liquid wastestream. The process requires adjusting the pH of the wastewater with alkaline reagents to reduce the solubility of dissolved metal and settling and removing the resulting metal hydroxide precipitates. The resulting sludge produced by this process is processed through a filter press and the pH adjusted effluent can be discharged to sewer or further processed for recycling.

Our highest priority in the design of any system is compliance with environmental laws. Systems are designed to be flexible and will be useable for future waste streams while providing cost effective removal of solids and heavy metals today. Systems for additional treatment, (chrome reduction and cyanide destruction) are offered to provide compliance of appropriate effluent regulations.

Systems are sized to accommodate flow rates of 5gpm to several hundred gpm. Low volume systems are offer in a sequencing batch process which can also be used for chrome reduction and cyanide oxidation.R3 Water Technologies provides components, installation and complete training of system operations.

Multilam Contact Band Technology

Among the countless types of electrical connectors from signal currents up to extremely high currents, Multilams have stood out for many years on the strength of excellent performance. The MC-Multilam system, the cornerstone of MC contact technology, has virtually unlimited applications due to its design flexibility and advanced features. The Multilam forms a contact cage inserted between two contact surfaces. Made as either torsion or leaf spring contact elements, the Multilam contacts the two surfaces at a large number of points, each of which acts as a "bridge" for passage of current. Multilams are made of stamped and specially shaped hard drawn copper beryllium. They are heat treated and usually silver, gold or nickel plated. They have high current-carrying capacity in continuous and ntermittent operation and perform very reliably over a broad temperature range. Multi-Contact offers contact bands for male and female cylindrical connectors or flat contact configurations. Multilam contact bands are also well suited for sliding contact interfaces, which require either linear or rotary movements. Contact elements with the capacity to compensate large tolerances and angular misalignment are also available.

Features:

  • Minimal contact resistance
  • Minimal voltage drop
  • High current density
  • High number of contact points
  • Self-cleaning
  • Built to exact tolerances
  • Minimal power loss

Benefits

  • Reduction in heat build-up
  • Energy savings
  • Low maintenance
  • Consistency over thousands of mating cycles
  • Savings in material costs
  • Prolonged product life
