RGB LED Light Sources - Lighting Applications

Whether you want to create impressive architectural lighting or effects for stage performances, the new LED RGB Light sources from FTI allow you to set the color, intensity, on/off duration or create and load a custom program

For indoor and outdoor applications RGB LED lighting can be used for wall washing, lighting fixtures, cove accents, and submersible lighting solutions.

Less expensive than most high power sources in the current market, packaged with a user-friendly software interface, for complete user control over performance, FTI's Solid-state LED light engine technology provides many unique features. Once the user has set the product up using the software, a push of a button locks in the resulting program, allowing the light engine to perform without connection to a computer

  • Long life (50000) hours – no lamp to change.
  • Stable output throughout the usable life.
  • Integral heat management with temperature controlled cooling fan.
  • Very small footprint.
  • Three-chip version outputs 16M different colors.
  • DMX 512, RJ45 and mini-USB addressable to control intensity, color and duration.
  • Included lighting control software gives the user ability to create custom lighting programs; built-in "permanent" memory stores the program in the unit– no need to keep the module connected to a computer. Program will not erase when the power is shut off.
  • Available in a white-only version.
  • Available in outdoor version.
  • Cost efficient.

CHEM4 Systems for Education

Our CHEM4-series Spectrophotometers for education are small-footprint, PC-based systems designed for chemistry professors, teachers and others who use spectroscopy as a teaching tool. These fully integrated systems -- including spectrometer, light source, cuvette holder and operating software -- are available at dramatic discounts with the trade-in of an old lab instrument. Acquire and display data -- 3648 wavelengths -- in <1 second with our convenient PC-based systems.

Sampling Optics: Direct-attach or Fiber

Each CHEM4 system comes with a fully integrated light source and cuvette holder that attaches to the spectrometer for a remarkably small-footprint system. The cuvette holders for all CHEMUSB4 systems are designed for standard 1-cm square cuvettes.

The CHEMUSB4-UV-VIS has a state-of-the-art, miniature RF-excited deuterium tungsten source. The CHEMUSB4-VIS has a direct-attach combination tungsten and blue LED source. You can separate each spectrometer from its integrated light source to couple the spectrometer to any of our fiber optic accessories and light sources.

The CHEM4-UV-FIBER and CHEM4-VIS-FIBER include a light source and cuvette assembly that attaches to the spectrometer with an optical fiber. The advantage of this design is that the light source can be easily coupled to other fiber optic accessories such as reflection probes or transmission dip probes. The CHEM4-VIS-FIBER comes with a tungsten source and the CHEM4-UV-FIBER uses a deuterium tungsten source.

USB Interface for Easy Startup

All of our CHEM4 systems interface to a PC via USB. All you need is to install the software and connect the included USB cable to your PC to be up and running. Wavelength calibration data are loaded automatically upon startup, and spectrometer power is supplied through the USB.

Software for Linux, Macintosh and Windows

All CHEM4 systems come with student-friendly software, which includes functions for absorbance, transmission, relative irradiance and kinetics measurements. The systems also work with our SpectraSuite Spectroscopy Software, which works in Linux, Macintosh and Windows operating systems and is available for $199.

Educational Discounts

Any learning institution qualifies for trade-in prices for CHEM4 systems (see table below). In addition, our Innovations in Education Spectroscopy Grant Program rewards educators and researchers for utilizing fiber optic spectroscopy in curricula or in research.

180 Degree Super Flux LED Package

BivarOpto™, the Optoelectronics Division of Bivar, Inc., has introduced a new, ultra-wide angle viewable LED Module to their Mako™ Series. Available in industry standard colors including white and tri-color RGB (Red/Green/Blue), the Super-Flux Mako-Wide LED unit allows designers to create displays of any color imaginable, including white and purple. A simple grid-type mounting arrangement creates a color display that will further intensify LED brightness across a wider area without gaps, and allows for the use of fewer LEDs than may be otherwise required by similar technologies.

Featuring new lens geometry, the MW Series design provides a full 180 viewing angle, increasing the viewing angle three times over the conventional 60 viewing angle of this industry standard LED configuration. The new lens geometry also has enabled a lower overall profile, approximately 0.07 inches (1.90mm), to a total height of only 01.00 inches (2.50mm).

For higher current capabilities, the Mako-Wide Series features an integral heatsink, reflector-based lead frame that allows placement of up to three individually addressable LED die. Each LED shares the basic optics, reflector and lens, creating up to three unique LEDs. The amount of current allocated to each chip can be controlled by the designer to achieve any color desired, allowing the communication of a greater number of messages in a single LED.

Packaged for high-density, grid-array installations, the MW Series features a small footprint only 0.30 inch (7.62mm) square, including rigid 0.200 inch (5.08mm) "grid-spaced" PCB pins with integral standoffs that allow insertion into standard thru-hole circuitry.

"The increase of the viewing angle of this LED configuration from 60 to 180 is expected to be most appealing to designers seeking to create even brighter, more visibly dynamic displays, particularly in full-color outdoor applications such as moving messages, traffic signage, scoreboards, automotive or other uses where high intensity, high density displays are sought," said Anthony Vilgiate, Vice President, Strategic Business Development.
