BivarOpto™, the Optoelectronics Division of Bivar, Inc., introduces a new surface mount (SMT) RGB-based device for optimized control of color and brightness, including a brilliant white, packaged in a low-profile, industry standard PLCC- 4 (plastic leaded chip carrier) device with a wide 120º viewing angle. Applications most suited for this popular package include high-contrast video displays such as LCD monitors, backlighting in automotive dash clusters and exterior automotive lighting, instrument panel backlighting, navigation and switching systems, and medical instrumentation.

The SMLC RGB design features an internal tri-chip circuit, employing three individually addressable LED die. Lens appearance when off is water clear. The tri-chip RGB design is comprised of a single AllnGaP and two InGaN/SIC chip dies, featuring peak wavelengths of 625, 568 and 430nm respectively. The result is a programmable white or brilliant full color display that can meet specific display needs. Absolute maximum rating of forward current drive is 200mA (Peak If). Other models in the SMLC product family include single and bi-color chip available in red, green, blue and yellow, including ultra and HE colors such as 395 UV– 525nm pure green. Other color combinations are available by special order (consult factory).

The PLCC-4 configuration, including a 4-pad metal heat dissipating base, measures only 0.075" (1.9mm) high, and a compact footprint of only 0.110" (2.8mm) x 0.138" (3.5mm).

"The SMLC Series provides an immediate solution for multi-color displays and wide area backlighting. Quality is assured via expanded bin coding and RoHS certification that is leading the industry for responsiveness." He further stated, "We've carefully selected the best materials coupled with new formulas such as a transparent-based (TS) AllnGaP die that enables this unit to produce a high luminous flux output for use in automotive signal lighting applications where optimal product uniformity is mandatory."

The SMLC PLCC-4 device Series is provided on tape and reel in quantities of 2,000 or in smaller quantities when specified to meet specific production quantity requirements. The devices also complement all surface mount device (SMD) assembly processes and automated insertion plant equipment. These devices are manufactured lead (Pb) free in compliance with WEEE and RoHS materials and process specifications to meet the growing global emphasis on environmental responsibility.

The SMLC RGB units are priced from $1.13 in production quantities, immediately available from stock through a global distribution network.

Support for the NorPix StreamPix Digital Video Recording Solutions

BitFlow is pleased to announce that the NorPix StreamPix digital video recording software products now work with their newest digital and analog frame grabbers. It is now possible to easily build system level solutions for high speed and/or multi-camera streaming video applications by simply combining nearly any industrial camera(s), the appropriate BitFlow frame grabber, and one of NorPix's StreamPix software video recording packages.

OEM's, End Users, and Integrators alike can capture color or monochrome digital video from up to four Camera Link or analog cameras per frame grabber, and send the video in real time to PC RAM � up to 128 Gigabytes of RAM has been tested to date - or to a hard disk drives at up to 1,700 Megabytes (1.7 Gigabytes) per second.

BitFlow's newest frame grabbers, the Karbon-CL, Neon-CL, and Alta-AN plug into the very fast PCI Express bus. They were designed to keep up with the fastest high speed cameras available, and to be used in any number of applications where capturing high speed streaming video is required.

NorPix's StreamPix digital video recording software products let anyone easily create movie clips in AVI or other file formats such as bmp, tiff, multi-tiff, mpeg or jpeg format � compressed and uncompressed real time video formats - without dropping frames. The hardware and software can be installed in any off the shelf PC, and nearly any hard drive will work; no raid or SCSI technology is required.

Vision systems can be built with multiple BitFlow Karbon-CL frame grabbers for those who need more than four Base Camera Link cameras, or more than two Medium, Full or �10-tap� Camera Link cameras. For those wishing to use multiple analog cameras, an analog multiple camera vision system based on the BitFlow Alta-AN frame grabber family can be created. For example, Alta-AN4 can capture from up to 12 RS170 or monochrome progressive scan cameras, or up to four RGB 3-chip cameras. Multiple Alta-ANs can be used for applications requiring still more analog cameras.
