Benefits Summary: The NCM08-15-025-2 LB Moving Magnet Voice Coil Linear Actuator is a compact direct drive linear actuator that can be controlled like a servo motor. It eliminates the complexity of rotary-to-linear actuators and offers greater controllability when compared to solenoids and pneumatic actuators. Unlike a solenoid, the Linear Actuator produces a constant force regardless of actuator position. This makes setup and tuning of the control loop much easier than for devices that have non-linear force profiles. When controlled in a closed loop servo configuration, with an encoder or position sensor, the actuator can be accurately positioned throughout its entire stroke length. In addition, when using a programmable motion controller, the moving magnet voice coil linear actuator can follow an almost infinite number of motion profiles. The actuator does not require commutation, therefore a simple DC amplifier typically used for brush type motors is well suited. Linear DC amplifiers are also compatible and will reduce EMI. The actuator can be provided with a hollow shaft for accommodating electrical and vacuum lines and can also be supplied with magnetic latching mechanisms for vertical applications.
