NetGuard & Vexar® Tubular, Elastic Netting Sleeves for Parts Protection
NetGuard and Vexar® elastic tubular netting sleeves should be your first choice for effective, economical and convenient protection of your valuable parts and components. They are manufactured from a special blend of resins to provide "soft" elastic cushioning characteristics to protect from chipping and abrasion of valuable parts during handling and transport.

These protective "chain" or "cable", expandable sleeving products are not braided or woven. They feature an integral joint structure for maximum stability and to help retain elasticity. NetGuard and Vexar® sleeves from Industrial Netting come in 3 grades in a wide range of sizes and colors. They are color coded by diameter size, which also allows for easy identification of your valuable parts.

Standard and Superduty grades feature greater elasticity than competitive products for more versatility in covering and conforming to a wide variety of part shapes and sizes. Sturdier, less elastic Workgrade sleeves provide extra thick individual parts protection. Choose your NetGuard or Vexar® sleeves in roll form (packaged in convenient self-dispensing cartons), or in custom cut lengths for your specific needs.

  • Better protection for valuable parts (aluminum, precious metals, etc.)
  • Guard against abrasion, chipping and corrosion
  • High elasticity
  • Softer feel
  • Protective, form-fit cushion
  • Durable

Sealed Bearing System (SBS)

Ball and sleeve bearings are used extensively in DC fan manufacturing to provide effective cooling solutions for a variety of industries. However, each has advantages and disadvantages that must be carefully considered in each design application. Pelonis Technologies’ new Sealed Bearing System (SBS) reduces oil leaks and dust contamination, and combines the long life of ball bearing technology with the quiet operation of sleeve bearing technology, at a low cost.

Bearing Systems
There are two main types of bearings that are used in axial fans; ball bearings and sleeve bearings. When choosing between a ball bearing and a sleeve bearing fan, considerations must be made regarding the following:

  • Fan Life
  • Heat Endurance
  • Fan Mounting
  • Noise
  • Friction
  • Lubrication
  • Cost

The sensor consists of a spring loaded shaft running in a precision sleeve bearing and connected to the core of an LVDT. The use of a precision sleeve bearing results in measurement repeatability of 0.000025 inches (0.6 µm) or better. The probe shaft is fully extended by a spring exerting a nominal force of 6 to 20 ounces depending upon total range. The contact tip supplied is an AGD standard number 9 made from chrome plated hardened tool steel. It is fully interchangeable with other AGD contact tips.

Built-in electronics result in position sensors that operate from a DC input and generate a pre-calibrated DC output. The output from the GHSI 750 Series is designed to operate with many PLCs, digital indicators, A/D converters, computer-based data processors, and QC data collection systems.

Available in ranges of ±0.050 inch (±1.25 mm) to ±2.00 inches (±50.0 mm), the maximum linearity error for a GHSI 750 Series sensor is ±0.25% of full range output using a statistically best-fit straight line derived by the least squares method.

For simplified mounting the GHSI 750 has a 1/2-20 UNF 2A thread on the front of the housing, permitting the user to install the LVDT in a mating threaded part or by using the two hex nuts furnished with the sensor. This results in a ready-to-use package for position measurements and longer range gaging applications.

Formsprag Clutch - Indexing Clutches
Formsprag Clutch
Indexing Clutches

Through the wide variety of designs offered by Formsprag Clutch and Stieber Clutch in both Sprag and Ramp & Roller Designs virtually any application can be met where reciprocating motion applied to the driving race is transformed into intermittent motion in only one direction at the driven race.

Indexing Clutches

Overview

In this type of application, reciprocating motion applied to the driving race is transformed into intermittent motion in only one direction at the driven race. For example, if a pinion is connected to the driving race, a rack meshing with the pinion can give reciprocating motion to the driving race. The clutch will then advance or "index" the work (driven race) on each forward stroke of the rack, but will not return or back-up on the return stroke of the rack.

Considerations

  • Number of cycles/min
  • Index angle
  • Nominal torque
  • Inertia (WR2) of the driven masses
  • Accelerations of the driving member
  • Number of indexes during service life
  • Shaft diameter

Applications

  • Metal stamping
  • Pressworking
  • Packing machines
  • Indexing tables
  • Assembling machines
  • Printing machines

Ball Bearing Supported Designs
Ball Bearing Supported Designs are self contained clutches that include ball bearings to handle axial and radial loading, as well as, seals to hold integral lubrication. From small to large torque requirements, from low to high speeds, they have applications in many industries.

Sleeve Bearing Supported Designs
Sleeve Bearing Supported Designs rely on a bronze bushing to handle radial loading of the application. Generally they are applied in applications where the speeds are higher and the torques not as large.

Bearing Envelope Designs
The innovative Bearing Envelope Designs utilize an integral bearing and lubrication for a compact package that corresponds to metric bearing series 62, 60, and 59.

Building Block Designs
Models AL and GFR have a modular design that offers a wide range of mounting options. A variety of cover and torque arm designs that can be assembled to the base clutch, or specially fabricated customer covers, result in mounting flexibility to meet any application.

External Bearing Required Designs
Built-in clutches that must be integrated in a housing that provides bearing support are available in a number of styles, allowing virtually any customer’s specialty application to be met. These clutches generally have applications in the low to medium torque and speed range.

Special Purpose Designs
Formsprag Clutch offers the ALZ with pneumatic actuation for applications where the indexing feature needs to be disengaged allowing the clutch to overrun in both directions. The BAT design is a ramp & roller type single revolution clutch whose main function is indexing without cumulative error.

In-Line Mounting Ball Bearing Supported Designs
Special Overrunning Clutches with extended shafts are available for use where the application calls for in-line mounting. The clutches are ball bearing supported which means they are self contained clutches that include ball bearings to handle axial and radial loading, as well as, seals to hold integral lubrication. From small to large torque requirements, from low to high speeds, they have applications in many industries. The base overrunning clutch cannot accommodate misalignment, so a coupling is always required to be mounted on the extended shaft.

Formsprag Clutch - Overrunning Clutches
Formsprag Clutch
Overrunning Clutches

All Formsprag/Stieber clutches described in this catalog are essentially “overrunning” clutches, i.e., they will drive in one direction but overrun (freewheel) in the other direction.Through the wide variety of designs offered by Formsprag Clutch and Stieber Clutch in both Sprag and Ramp & Roller Designs virtually any application can be met where this function is required.

Overrunning Clutches

These clutches disengage automatically when the driven member rotates faster than the driving member.

Overview

This class of applications is typified by standby and compound drives. For example, a steam turbine and a standby electric motor may be connected to a single driven shaft through overrunning clutches. The shaft can then be driven by either the turbine or the motor or both with no further modification of the installation. The turbine drive clutch automatically engages when the turbine starts to drive, but automatically overruns when the load is transferred to the electric motor.

Considerations

  • Type of motor
  • Maximum starting torque
  • Internal combustion engines, consult Formsprag
  • Nominal driving torque
  • Range of driving speed
  • Inertia (WR2) of the driven masses
  • Range of overrunning speed
  • Number of starts during service life
  • Shaft diameter

Applications

  • Dual motor/engine drives
  • Conveyor belts
  • Creep and starter drives
  • Disengagement of centrifugal masses
