CFI funds infrastructure for innovation WATERLOO, Ont -- Three innovative research projects at the University of Waterloo have received more than $500,000 in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation's New Opportunities Fund. The funding will pay for infrastructure so the researchers can study how to create more efficient electricity markets, better understand employee behaviour in the workplace and improve health care through biomedical micro and nano devices. CFI was set up in 1997 by the federal government to fund infrastructure and thereby strengthen the ability of universities, colleges, research hospitals and other non-profit institutions to carry out research and technology development.
