SeaLATCH™ Locking USB Cable Solution

From Sealevel Systems, Inc.

The Problem: The USB Interface Was Not Designed for Industrial Environments The USB interface was originally designed to give home computer users a universal method for connecting peripherals. Over time, USB has become the most common interface and has migrated to products targeting industrial applications. However, the USB mechanical connector was designed to be quickly connected and disconnected and did not include a locking mechanism. As a result, accidental cable disconnection is the single most common point of failure with USB industrial I/O devices.

Products & Services
Network accessories are devices that are used to complement or enhance computer and network systems. Learn more about Network Accessories
Network switches route packets between ports at the OSI layer 2, which means that (in Ethernet) the switches decide where incoming packets are transferred to, based on the NIC's 48-bit address. Search by Specification | Learn more about Network Switches
Network cable assemblies are used in the transmission of data across networks. Choices include Fibre Channel, FireWire or IEEE 1394, GPIB, serial, parallel, patch, SCSI, Ethernet and USB. Search by Specification | Learn more about Network Cable Assemblies
Network equipment is used to split, switch, boost, or direct packets of information along a network. This product area includes network hubs, switches, routers, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers and firewalls. Often, network equipment is defined by is protocol or port type (e.g., Ethernet switch, USB hub). Search by Specification | Learn more about Network Equipment
Serial communications computer boards are boards or ports that transmit data by sending the bits one after the other over a single wire. Learn more about Serial Communications Computer Boards
