Bearings, Seals, Gaskets and Packing Choosing the Right Sealing Solution

From Garlock Sealing Technologies

Sealing devices play a vital role in ensuring that your plant performs at its best at all times. After all, a seal failure could mean leaking pumps or valves, or oil dripping from gearboxes and result in serious plant shutdowns and days of lost production.

Whether it's gaskets, packings, expansion joints, or any other sealing device, selecting the right product that fits the application is crucial.

That process usually begins with defining the level of performance expected from the sealing solution and identifying the service conditions. Garlock Sealing Technologies uses a procedure called TAMPSS to make sure that nothing is
missed when gathering information, says Jim Drago, Manager, Engineering.

Products & Services
Metal ring seals are static devices that can withstand high operating temperatures, pressures, and vacuums. They can also withstand cryogenic conditions and high face-to-face cycling. Search by Specification | Learn more about Metal Ring Seals
Hydraulic seals and pneumatic seals include piston seals, rod seals, U-cups, vee, cup, and flange packings. Search by Specification | Learn more about Hydraulic Seals and Pneumatic Seals
Dynamic seals include oil seals, hydraulic and pneumatic seals, exclusion seals, labyrinth seals, bearing isolators, and piston rings. They create a barrier between moving and stationary surfaces in applications such as rotating shafts and pistons rings.  This is a general search form; more detailed search forms are available. Search by Specification | Learn more about Dynamic Seals
Compression packing seals or gland seals are deformable materials used to prevent or control the leakage of fluid between surfaces that move in relation to each other. Search by Specification | Learn more about Compression Packing Seals
Expansion joints connect two fixed assemblies or pipes and provide allowance for movement due to service load, shock, or thermal cycles. Search by Specification | Learn more about Expansion Joints
