From Aviationweek.com 2005 April
House Transportation Chair Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) yesterday issued a stern warning to federal agencies that fail to act quickly on opening Washington National Airport to general aviation.
The committee yesterday approved H.R. 1496, The Return of General Aviation to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Act of 2005. During a mark-up session, Young, frustrated by the lack of cooperation of federal officials charged with finding a solution to the problem, threatened to subpoena anyone who failed to comply once the bill becomes law. The committee cut from 180 days to 60 days the time DOT and FAA have to reopen the airport to general aviation.
