This paper defines major advantages for using centrifugal compressors as fuel gas boosters for gas turbines. The first aspect of this paper defines the technical differences between centrifugal compressors and reciprocating compressors as the fuel gas booster. The second aspect of this paper defines the uniqueness and technical advantages of state-of-the-art centrifugal compressors, which are applied for this service.

As the demand for power requirements increases globally, so does the need for larger gas turbines. With a heightened awareness of energy conservation, power generation plants run gas turbines at the highest efficiencies possible. The fuel gas capacity required to satisfy the gas turbine demand is also ever increasing. The centrifugal compressor's capability to boost and meet the fuel gas requirements for these large gas turbines over the traditional reciprocating machines, lends itself to numerous outstanding economical and technical advantages.

 


Products & Services
Air compressors are machines that compress air to higher than atmospheric pressures for delivery to pneumatic or robotic tools, industrial equipment, or direct-use applications.
Gas compressors and systems are used to circulate gas through a process, enhance conditions for chemical reactions, provide inert gas for safety or control systems, recover and recompress process gas, and maintain correct pressure levels by either adding and removing gas or vapors from a process system.
Cogeneration equipment produces power and thermal energy from a common fuel source, generally one that is considered to be a waste product from another process.
Refrigeration compressors and air conditioning compressors provide air conditioning, heat pumping, and refrigeration for large-scale facilities and equipment. Refrigeration compressors are sometimes called refrigerant compressors.
Microturbines are small fuel-burning turbines used in localized or mobile power generation and mechanical drive applications.
