Often when you see an "S" in our model designations, such as RFS, RHS, CSF, or SHF, we are telling you that our patented gear toothform is being used. This new tooth profile has been developed through theoretical modeling and the extensive use of FEA/CAD tools which have only become available in the last few years. These powerful tools have brought new technical understanding to the harmonic gearing mechanism and at the same time allowed us to improve our design, resulting in greatly improved performance. Rack and pinion drives use a rotational motor to affect linear motion via a rack and pinion combination. They are used frequently in long-travel applications, such as machine tool table positioning, that require high stiffness and accuracy.
Finite element analysis (FEA) software uses a numerical technique to model and analyze complex structures by solving boundary-value problems. The structure to be analyzed is divided into
points (elements) that make a grid called a mesh.
Worm gears are cylindrical gears with a spiral thread that drive mating worm wheels in high-reduction gearset applications. They operate on non-intersecting perpendicular axes.
Gears are mechanical devices that transmit power and motion between axes.
Spur gears are straight-toothed gears with radial teeth that transmit power and motion between parallel axes.
