High-deformation processing has been shown to produce an ultra-fine grain size in metallic materials. The resulting increase in strength is highly desirable for many metals.
One such processing method is equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP). This process does not change the cross-sectional area of the billet, making it suitable for repeated application and capable of deformations >99%.
