From National Precision Bearing, Inc.

"Made in the USA" is a traditional mark and label used by many bearing manufacturers. This
statement however can be misleading. In today's highly competitive marketplace many
manufactures seek international off-shore sources for raw materials and components (such as
balls, rollers, cages and rings). As a result many of the "Made in the USA" bearings are finished
and assembled in the United States but contain components and materials that have been
produced off shore.
It is important to understand the US Government requirements for bearings that find their way
into defense related facilities, applications, etc.

Thrust Bearings
Thrust bearings are designed for pure thrust loads, and can handle little or no radial load. The rolling element in a thrust bearing can be a ball, needle or roller.
Needle Roller Bearings
Needle roller bearings are designed for radial load applications where a low profile is desired.
Thrust Washers
Thrust washers are used as a bearing surface for rotary applications.  They are usually made of steel, bronze, plastic, or other material with low friction coefficients.
Radial Ball Bearings
Radial ball bearings are friction reduction, rotation devices that carry loads radially around its axis. A subtype of ball bearings, they operate through the use of lubricated steel balls placed between two circular guides. They are frequently called deep-groove bearings.
Ball Bearings
Ball bearings are used to provide smooth, low friction motion in rotary applications. Ball bearings types include radial ball bearings (deep groove and angular contact) and thrust ball bearings.

Standard ball bearings give engineers plenty of design options. Radial ball bearings from NMB Technologies Corp. come in a variety of sizes and precision levels, with or without shields and seals.

bearings are the most widely used ball bearings. In addition to radial loads, they carry substantial thrust loads at high speeds, in either direction. They require careful alignment between shaft and...
