From GE Analytical Instruments
During the flooding, the Cobb County - Marietta Water
Authority realized the importance of knowing more than
just the turbidity levels in their source water. By identifying
TOC values, the plant was able to optimize their chemical
addition, potentially avoiding excessive chemical costs.
In November, 2009, the Water Authority invested in two
Sievers 5310 C On-line TOC Analyzers to continuously
monitor their influent and effluent water. They will now
be able to optimize their treatment process during any
upcoming water quality changes, whether minor or
caused by extreme conditions such as a 500-year flood.
