Proper treatment of boiler feed water is an important part of operating and maintaining a boiler system. As steam is produced, dissolved solids become concentrated and form deposits inside the boiler. This leads to poor heat transfer and reduces the efficiency of the boiler. Dissolved gasses such as oxygen and carbon dioxide will react with the metals in the boiler system and lead to boiler corrosion. In order to protect the boiler from these contaminates, they should be controlled or removed. There are several different technologies that are widely used in the industry for removing these contaminants. Dissolved solids can be removed with reverse osmosis membrane and ion exchange systems. Dissolved gasses have historically been removed using forced draft degasifiers, chemical agents and steam deareators. Products & Services
Deaerators are used to remove dissolved, corrosive gases from boiler feed water. They heat incoming makeup water for injection into the boiler, and return the condensate to a temperature which minimizes the solubility of these gases.
Reverse osmosis (RO) systems force water through a semi-permeable membrane to separate water from a solution of dissolved solids. Applying pressure to the solution causes water and other molecules with a low molecular weight to pass through the membrane.
Condensate pumps are used to collect and transport condensate back into a steam system for reheating and reuse, or to remove unwanted condensate from an HVAC or appliance collection pan.
Industrial boilers are closed vessels that are used to generate or superheat steam. Activity is produced by the application of heat from combustible fuels, electricity or nuclear energy.
Dissolved CO2 instruments are analytical devices that measure the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) dissolved in a liquid sample such as water. They typically include a submerged probe that is covered by a thin organic membrane.
