The answer to this question depends on the materials selected in the motor construction and the cooling capacity of the environment where the motor is used. Generally speaking, the insulation system in the motor is the limiting factor. When the temperature rating of the insulation is exceeded, the insulation melts and the wires in the winding short to undesirable locations. Typical industrial motors have class B insulations which melt at 130° C. Upgraded motors include class F (155° C), Class H (180° C) and Class 220 (220° C). Products & Services
