Impact modifying chemical additives or toughening agents are additives that increase the toughness or impact strength of a product. Toughness can be improved by increasing ductility or flexibility while maintaining tensile strength levels. For example, given two materials with the same tensile strength, the material with higher ductility (percentage elongation) has a greater toughness.
