Hard coating applies or forms a hard surface layer in order to provide a high hardness or abrasion resistance relative to the substrate, or compared to other similar coatings or finishes. The hard layer can be formed through diffusion, ion implantation, carburizing, nitriding, or other specialized processes. Hard layers can also be deposited by coating or plating processes. Processes include hard anodizing, hard coating, hard plating, ion implantation, diffusion treatment (carburizing, nitriding or Kolsterising®) and hard facing. Kolsterising is a registered trademark of Bodycote International. The higher hardness or wear resistance from hard coating is attained through process and/or compositional changes. Products & Services
Coating services coat or plate the surfaces of manufactured components. Coating processes include ceramic, coil, dip, dry lubricant, phosphate, powder, rubber, thin film, titanium, and selective coating. Coating services also perform chemical finishing, galvanizing, hardfacing, painting, thermal spraying, and screen printing.
Finishing and surface treatment services pretreat or finish the surfaces of manufactured components to meet roughness or surface condition requirements.
Web coating services apply a layer of resin or other liquid coating to the surface of a continuous sheet of material.
Thin film coating services apply very thin layers of specialized materials to part surfaces. They perform processes such chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), ion implantation, electrochemical deposition (ECD), plasma etching, rapid thermal processing (RTP), and titanium nitride coating.
Lining and wear protection services suppliers provide installation or application of wear protective liners, tile liners, spray on lining systems and/or high build coatings to protect an underlying surface from wear or erosion.
