Capacitance Range

Capacitance range is a characteristic of variable capacitors. By contrast, fixed capacitors have only one capacitance value. Capacitance is a measure of the energy-storage ability of a capacitor, given as C = K A/D, where A is the area of the electrodes, D is their separation, and K is a function of the dielectric between the electrodes. The formula yields a result in farads (F), but a farad is so large that the most commonly used values for capacitance range are expressed in microfarads (µf = 10-6F) or picofarads (pf = 10-12F).

Products & Services
Capacitance standards and decades provide a highly accurate standard value of capacitance for calibration and testing. Search by Specification | Learn more about Capacitance Standards and Decades
Ultracapacitors store charges (energy) by physically separating positive and negative charges (unlike batteries which do so chemically).  Very high power densities can be achieved by this method. Search by Specification | Learn more about Ultracapacitors
Capacitors are electronic components used for storing charge and energy. In their simplest form, capacitors consist of two conducting plates separated by an insulating material called the dielectric. Search by Specification | Learn more about Capacitors
Tantalum capacitors are used in smaller electronic devices including portable telephones, pagers, personal computers, and automotive electronics.  Search by Specification | Learn more about Tantalum Capacitors
High voltage capacitors are used for storing charge and energy in high voltage applications.  Search by Specification | Learn more about High Voltage Capacitors
