Metal Carbides (WC, TiC)

Carbides are compounds of a metal or metalloid (B, Si) and carbon. Metal carbides are also known as hard metals such as tungsten carbide (WC), titanium carbide (TiC) or tantalum carbide (TaC). Metal carbides have high hardness and high hot hardness, which makes them useful for cutting tools, forming, dies and tools, and other wear applications. Metal carbides often used a cobalt, nickel, or intermetallic metal bond between grains (cemented carbides), which results in increases toughness compared a pure carbide or ceramic.

Products & Services
Ceramic manufacturing services for parts and assemblies made of ceramic or refractory materials.  Search by Specification | Learn more about Ceramic Manufacturing Services
Carbides and carbide materials include silicon carbide, tungsten carbide and titanium carbide as well as other compounds of a metal (Ti, W, Cr, Zr) or metalloid (B, Si) and carbon. Carbides have excellent wear resistance and high hot hardness. Learn more about Carbides and Carbide Materials (Hard metals)
Balls and sphere shapes are used for check or ball valves, bearings, or other applications requiring a spherical product. They are fabricated from materials such as carbides, ceramics, sapphire, metals, plastics, rubber and elastomers. Search by Specification | Learn more about Balls and Sphere Shapes
EDM tooling, electrodes, fixtures, materials, guides and other supplies are used in electrical discharge machining (EDM), a highly-accurate manufacturing process for creating shapes within components and assemblies. Search by Specification | Learn more about EDM Tooling
Isostatic presses are used for compressing powdered materials into shaped pre-forms or general products. There are two main types of isostatic presses; cold isostatic presses (CIP) that function at room temperature and hot isostatic presses (HIP) that function at elevated temperatures.
