In this chapter we will look at creating more complex navigation through using buttons in groups as menus, through the use of movie clip symbols and by creating submenus.
For people who are learning Flash or are scared of ActionScript, Macromedia have provided not only Behaviors complete mini scripts that you can customize as we saw in the last chapter, but also Actions pre-written pieces of code that you can combine and customize for your own requirements.
Actions can be attached to frames as well as to buttons, for example to pause on a frame or for making a new movie load on a particular frame or to loop a sequence.
In the last chapter we saw that movie clip symbols could be contained within button symbols to create animated rollovers. Frame actions can also be contained within symbols to create a more complex piece. Button symbols can also be placed within movie clip symbols. However, you cannot put button symbols within button symbols.
We will now look at creating a simple menu using frame actions and behaviors.
