The ASEP UniTruck - The Next Generaton Wireline Truck for Oilwell Services

Founded in 1981, ASEP has a deserved reputation for quality and innovative solutions related to well servi¬cing equipment. It has manufactured over 2,000 units that are in operation in over 90 countries. One of its main product lines are wireline truck bodies. Basically these units contain a winch that is used primarily to feed instruments etc. into a well. Depending on the application, the wire can range from a 'piano' wire to a braided line. After more than 10 years of building standard aluminum-skinned, wireline bodies, ASEP decided to go back to the drawing board and investigate if there was a faster and more cost effective way to build wireline trucks. A worldwide research study was undertaken to obtain a detailed picture of the equipment that was in service together with a survey of new technologies and manufacturing processes. It was clear from this research that a winch body manufactured in sandwich composite materials would provide far superior performance and greater operational flexibility. Moreover the actual manufacturing process would be more efficient. As a result of this work the revolutionary ASEP UniTruck was born.
