Si-Based Photonic Crystals and Photonic-Bandgap Waveguides
From globalspec.com
Photonic crystals have various unique optical properties [1], [2] and are thus considered promising candidates as key platforms for future ultra-small large-scale photonic integrated circuits (PTCs). It has been theoretically predicted that various optical properties of photonic crystals are advantageous as regards this goal. The selection of component materials is very im¬portant if we are to realize PICs by using photonic crys¬tals. With conventional optoelectronic circuits (such as f 11 V semiconductor PICs or silica planar lightwave cir¬cuits [3]), a relatively small refractive index difference is normally used to reduce the scattering loss, and fine index variation is essential to PIC design. This means that Si is not a good choice for optoelectronic use because fine index modulation is difficult.

Products & Services
Specialty Optical Polarizers use the optical properties of a medium to alter the polarization of light. This category includes radial polarizers, azimuthal polarizers, elliptical polarizers, etc.
Specialty optical fiber is modified, usually by doping, for a specialized function. It consists of one or more transparent fibers enclosed in a protective covering.
IC optical and optoelectronic devices are chips designed for optical and optoelectronic applications.
Optical and optoelectronic assembly services companies design assemblies and systems for optical and optoelectronic devices.
Sapphire materials and components consist of a single-crystal, ceramic form of aluminum oxide. They have superior hardness, mechanical and optical properties, and are used in jewel bearings, lasing rods, wear parts, wafer substrates and optics.
