Hoffer Flow Controls has been awarded a contract to supply turbine flowmeters to a major U.S. space agency. The turbine flowmeters will be used to test large propulsion engines. We are pleased to be a part of this program. The customer specifying the turbine flowmeters has been playing a key support role since the early 1960's with work on the Saturn program. Upon completion of the Apollo and Skylab programs, this customer's role in engine testing moved to the next step in space travel -- the Space Shuttle. Using its three large Apollo era test stands with thrust capability to 15 million pounds, this location's primary mission is to test and flight certify the Space Shuttle's main engines, which power the vehicle during its eight and one-half minutes of flight prior to orbit. This particular location began testing the main engines in June, 1975. Products & Services
Test stands and benches are laboratory surfaces upon which devices are tested. They are used for pressure or flow testing of system components, and in many different industries.
Simulation software is used to mimic a process or a system (e.g., electrical, optical, or mechanical) for the purposes of testing or calibration.
Online directories list companies on web sites that focus on specific industries or segments. Search engines provide targeted web results based on keywords and other advanced criteria.
Environmental exposure (climatics) testing services use humidity, pressure, temperature, vibration, exposure to ultraviolet light (UV) and other climatic variables to test samples, parts and components, and finished products.
Piston rings are used for sealing cylinders. They can work at higher temperatures than elastomeric, fabric, or polymer seals.
