From TANDBERG
PENTAX is known all over the world for its proven technologies in such diverse business areas as imaging systems (photographic/optic), medical instruments (such as video and fiberoptic endoscopes), industrial products (for monitoring and metrology), spectacle lenses, mobile printers and Internet cameras. The company is also the Japanese market leader in the growth area of artificial bone replacement. Pentax employs a workforce of around 6,000 people worldwide, including some 500 in Europe and 250 in Germany, and is present in more than 100 countries. Production for the Pentax Corporation, which was founded in 1919 in Japan, takes place exclusively in Asia; in Europe, country-based companies attend to the sales and service of the products. Since 2001, the European headquarters have been in Hamburg. From there, Pentax also directs its Middle Eastern and African operations.
Pentax uses videoconferencing primarily to coordinate activities at its own sites. In contrast to the USA and Japan, where its video systems run via an ISDN connection, the systems in Europe are IP-based. Business partners without access to the European Pentax network are integrated by ISDN.
