From FLIR
The physical treatment of burns is essentially based on the aeration of the injured area, yet physicians have to look for the best compromise between minimum exposure to pathogenic airborne agents and infection, and maximum aeration of the damaged skin. Modern wound dressing techniques give physicians a variety of materials to work with, options in order to find the optimal choice based upon the injury. This paper will compare and contrast traditional medical dressings versus newly created modern treatments, and study the differences with regards to patient healing impact via thermography, as studied in lab tests on non-human test subjects and models of human skin. Preliminary test results will be presented, along with some discussions about the use of this new dressing technique. In everyday life, one is often faced with small wounds such as cuts, abrasions, burns and so on. In these situations the intervention of medical staff is not always necessary, as such small injuries may not require professional first aid techniques. In these cases self -medication by means of disinfectant, cotton wool, plasters and gauzes is sufficient to provide an adequate isolation of the cutaneous surface from potential infections.
