When upgrading to a new plant, a plastics compounder chooses scale-based, loss-in-weight feeders like those that have contributed to the company’s top-quality products for more than 20 years. We manufacture highly engineered
resins — the more sophisticated the application, the better,” says Craig Lucas, executive vice president of B&M Plastics Inc., Evansville, Ind. “And for us to keep turning out top-quality engineered resins, we need to have highly accurate and rugged feeders.”
B&M Plastics manufactures engineered resins for the injection molding industry. Owner Bill Gillenwater formerly worked for GE Plastics, Mount Vernon, Ind. He left GE Plastics in 1983 and started his own toll-compounding business, recompounding GE’s off-spec materials into usable products. Within a few years, the company launched its own product line of
custom-engineered materials while continuing to toll-process for various companies. The company produces polycarbonate resins (PCs), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrenes (ABSs), polybutylene terephthalate (PBTs), and various polycarbonate alloys. These products, most of them proprietary compounds, are used in various applications in the automotive, consumer, aerospace, HVAC, electrical, and lawn and garden industries.
Products & Services
Plastics and plastic materials are organic, synthetic or processed polymers that are supplied as raw materials or stock shapes. They typically consist of thermoplastic or thermosetting resins and can be made into many forms.
Foams and foam materials are industrial products made from low density elastomers, plastics, and other materials with various structures and porosities.
Molding compounds and resins are industrial plastics and polymers that are suitable for forming. They are available as pellets, liquids, and powders and are used in processes such as injection molding, compression molding, reaction injection molding (RIM), resin transfer molding (RTM), and blow molding.
Plastic sheet and plastic film is formed to a precise thickness and used in many different applications.
Encapsulants and potting compounds are resins or adhesives that are used to encapsulate circuit boards and semiconductors, fill containers of electronic components, and infiltrate electrical coils. They provide environmental protection, electrical insulation and other specialized characteristics.
