From Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, Inc.
UV-VIS spectrophotometers are widely used for quantitation (measurement of concentration) of a substance in solution. In this type of measurement, it is important to determine the quantitation limit of the substance beforehand as a rough indication of the range within which the concentration can be measured. Although the quantitation limit varies depending on the sample, here we report on the measurement of vitamin B12 and caffeine in aqueous solutions using the Shimadzu UV-1800 UV-VIS spectrophotometer to determine their respective quantitation limits.
