Obtaining regulatory approval of new intravascular devices such as stents and grafts requires data from fatigue tests for materials and components as well as fatigue/durability tests of complete devices. Finite element analysis (FEA) provides reasonable expectations of the fatigue performance of the device once the true fatigue properties of the processed materials are known. Material data provided by tubing or wire manufacturers do not account for the stresses and strains imparted during the manufacturing process. The challenge is to obtain the necessary data for the materials and structures to validate the model. Ensure that they have accurate properties. These tests range from creating a modified Goodman diagram using tensile tests and a variety of dynamic fatigue life studies on wires and struts. Complex geometry issues that are predicted by FEA such as stress concentrations on the apices of a stent structure must also be evaluated for fatigue durability.
Products & Services
Finite element analysis (FEA) software uses a numerical technique to model and analyze complex structures by solving boundary-value problems. The structure to be analyzed is divided into
points (elements) that make a grid called a mesh.
Mechanical testing equipment covers devices used for adhesion, compression, drop (shock), tensile, vibration and fatigue testing.
Roller bearings are used in rotary applications to replace sliding movement with low friction, rolling motion. The principal types of roller bearings are cylindrical, spherical, and tapered.
Flow and pressure (fluid dynamics) testing services evaluate the flow, pressure and fluid dynamics of components and products such as radiators, heater cores, lines and bottles.
Shock and vibration (dynamics) testing services or dynamics testing of a finished product or component using shock, sine and random vibration or other dynamic test conditions.
