There are 17 million people or 6.2% of the population in the United States who have diabetes. About 60% to 70% of people with diabetes have mild to severe forms of nervous system damage that results in impaired sensation or pain in their feet. This often causes the patient to be unaware of high pressure, or stress concentrations, on the foot that would normally be sensed and avoided by a healthy person. Diseased individuals are often unaware of a problem until after severe damage has been done. Severe forms of diabetic neuropathy and resulting tissue over-stressing are a major contributing cause of lower-extremity amputations. If physicians have a tool to model a patient’s gait and foot, they may then be able to predict potential ‘high pressure’ zones on the patient’s feet. They may then prescribe an orthosis to better distribute the load and improve the survivability of the diabetic patient’s feet.
Products & Services
Coagulation equipment is used to promote the destabilization and initial aggregation or flocculation of finely divided suspended solids by the application of a magnetic field, the addition of a polyelectrolyte or a biological process.
Leveling feet and pads consist of discs of varying shapes and sizes. They are used for leveling jigs, fixtures, and equipment. A leveling foot has a threaded stud for adjusting the level. A leveling pad has a recess on which a leveling stud rests.
Motor coils are used with motors, generators, stators, and armatures.
Medical cable assemblies are used in hospitals, clinics and other medical facilities. Medical cables are used to connect laboratory equipment, for patient monitoring, and in other medical situations.
Lux meters or light meters measure illumination in terms of luxes (lx) or foot candles (fc).
